    Cambuslang

    Salary starting from £50,000 per annum plus up to 15% annual bonus and healthcare cover.

    With plans to see SP Energy Networks (SPEN), part of the ScottishPower Group, look to invest over £5.4bn in transmission projects across our transmission network in central and southern Scotland by 2030, Transmission Projects will play a key role in supporting SPEN to work at pace to deliver the transmission network that is required to support ambitions Scottish and UK Government 2030 targets.

    A Stakeholder and Community Liaison Manager is responsible for the development and delivery of a robust, strategic, comprehensive stakeholder, communications and community liaison strategy, ensuring full compliance with the central company stakeholder engagement strategy and delivery of all obligations for Transmission Projects.

    They ensure relationships in our project communities are developed and maintained in a planned and structured manner as part of supporting all Transmission Projects (annual spend circa £500m plus ) over the next decade and beyond.

    This position has 2 direct reports (line manager responsibility) and 6 indirect reports.

    What you'll be doing

    The Stakeholder and Community Liaison Manager will lead on all elements of public and customer facing engagement for strategic projects, media campaigns and materials for public consultations/enquiries.

    This will include interfaces with Land & Planning, Stakeholder Engagement and Communications team, creative agencies, joint campaigns with other Transmission Owners, Regulation and Corporate Communications departments with SPEN.

    The role holder will ensure consistent presentation materials and/or videos etc. are created for the projects team and lead positive messaging on our progress at key points. They will own responsibility for development of, and updates to, dedicated projects webpages.

    This will involve:

    • Defining a projects stakeholder management plan and strategy around our communications
    • Taking ownership of all Transmission Projects stakeholder engagement and communications strategy, development and delivery - including both traditional media and digital channels, events, and all relevant opportunities to maximise positive perceptions of the company amongst key stakeholder groups.
    • Reporting on stakeholder engagement whilst developing and implementing innovative stakeholder engagement strategies.
    • Working closely with Transmission Senior Leadership teams and wider SPT/SPD project teams to provide expert communications support for the development and delivery of connections/infrastructure and HND/ASTI projects.
    • Collaborating with colleagues in Land and Planning to contribute to the delivery of key strategic objectives, including the success of project development consent decisions.
    • Leading community relations staff.
    • Co-ordinating community relations activities to support project development and delivery programmes.
    • Establishing and managing relationships with key stakeholders in the communities impacted by our projects.
    • Proactively building and enhancing relationships with key local stakeholders and decision makers, acting as a trusted point of contact, as well as advising and briefing senior management on project development strategies and risk mitigation plans.

    What you'll bring

    As a Stakeholder and Community Liaison Manager it is vital that you have excellent communication skills including written, verbal and presentation and being able to effectively translate technical language for a non-technical audience. You will be capable of managing and influencing challenging discussions and/or situations at all levels.

    You will be an excellent team leader with strong inter-personal skills to enable you to motivate a team to successfully delivery communication interventions whilst building and maintaining credible and trusting working relationships (internally and externally).

    To be successful, it is essential that you have:

    • Minimum 3 years experience in a stakeholder and/or community liaison role within major infrastructure industry.
    • Valid UK Driving Licence with no convictions and/or penalties.
    • Experience working in a marketing and communications environment and/or community relations role.
    • Ability to plan and organise the delivery of an external and business wide communication plan.
    • Detailed knowledge of the latest communication and marketing tools and techniques and their practical implementation.
    • Demonstrable experience of external engagement with key stakeholders with a detailed understanding of local and national politics that could impact/affect project developments.
    • Ability to prioritise and manage deadlines.
    • Proven experience of working in project related environment.
    • Ability to negotiate with multiple parties and develop satisfactory outcomes.
    • Line Manager experience.
