Permanent Full-Time Position: 08:00 - 17:00 Monday to Friday (with a requirement for overtime working where required); 20 days Holiday plus Bank Holidays; Vehicle Allowance; Pension Scheme; Medical Insurance Scheme; Professional Membership; Company Events, On-Site Parking; Training and Progression Opportunities.


This position includes occasional overtime where required.
ACS offer independent professional materials testing and consultancy services generally aimed at the Construction and Environmental sectors.

Our seamless all-in-one service includes physical and chemical laboratory testing, site investigation and testing, and geoscience and materials management consultancy.

We test a wide range of materials, including natural and recycled aggregates, bituminous materials, fresh and hardened concrete, soils, and ground/surface waters.


The consultancy and site investigation sector of our business currently employs more than 15 staff of various levels of qualification and experience.


Principal Consultant:


  • ACS Testing Ltd, a Phenna Group Company, have an exciting opportunity to appoint a Principal Consultant to headup our new regional office in Hackthorpe, Penrith.


We are looking for an experienced, business minded, principal consultant to develop this region and help build a strong, adaptable team, led by technical excellence as its core principle.


The scope of our work typically encompasses contaminated land desk studies, site investigation planning, execution and reporting, remediation planning and verification reporting, landfill monitoring, CQA and waste consultancy.

We are supported by our in-house specialist services including geotechnical and chemical laboratories, as well as in-house drilling, coring and in-situ testing services.

The successful applicant will be able and enthused to develop work with clients.

We are looking for someone who is motivated to look for work and to meet and develop a good relationship with clients.


Responsibilities


With the support of the ACS Geoscience Manager and the ACS Managing Director, you will be responsible for business development, technical delivery, and business management of the region.

We are looking for someone who is able and inspired to develop what is a good business into a new area with a well-balanced and energetic team.


You will:

  • Communicate with clients, team members, and other members of ACS and the wider Phenna Group
  • Behave, and ensure that the team behave, in such a way to protect the health, safety and wellbeing of the team and all they work with, and to protect the environment in the course of and as part of the work
  • Ensure that the team deliver work of good quality, meets the client's expectations, and is correct
  • Set and meet financial targets, and report and discuss the financial productivity of the team to the ACS Geoscience Manager
  • Liaise with the other parts of the ACS team and the wider Phenna Group businesses to provide an excellent and efficient combined service to clients

Requirements:


  • Chartered geologist or scientist (specialising in geoenvironmental or geotechnical assessment)
  • At least 15 years working experience
  • Specialism/good working knowledge in either geoenvironmental and/or geotechnical assessment
  • Experience in project management
  • Experience in team/people management

£35,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
