Our seamless all-in-one service includes physical properties and chemical laboratory testing, site investigation, geoscience consultancy and materials management consultancy

ACS employees over 90 people nationally, with our geoscience sector of the business currently employing more than 15 staff with a breadth of qualification and experience.

Due to continued growth, an opportunity has arisen in our Geoscience team to appoint a full-time petrographer into our business.

Key responsibilities:

Sample preparation of rock, aggregate and concrete specimens;
Petrographic analysis of rock, aggregate, concrete, mortar and render.
Identification of factors which may influence material degradation.
Mineralogical analysis of specimens including economic minerals in ore.
Prepare thin section and petrographic reports with interpretive assessment.

Desired attributes:

A firstclass degree in earth sciences or an engineering related discipline;
Chartered Status with a relevant professional body, such as Geological Society
The ability to communicate confidently and professionally with colleagues using verbal and written skills;
Strong IT capabilities, including use of Office suite;
The ability to work effectively, either alone or within a team;

Basic package details:

, Permanent.
Core Working Hours: 08:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday, with a requirement for overtime working when necessary.

Holidays: 25 days per annum plus Bank Holidays.
