The Division of Health Research (DHR) within Lancaster University's Faculty of Health and Medicine is seeking to fill a Research Associate position.
In this role, you will join a new 2-year research project funded by NHS England via Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board, in which Lancaster University is the evaluation partner.
The project involves the evaluation in relation to the efficacy and safety of using technology-enabled smart medication devices to manage medication adherence.
The project will focus on the use of such devices as part of a domiciliary care package to determine whether this provides an effective and time and cost saving solution to the social care recipient, the care provider and local authorities, and improves medication adherence and independence.
You will play a key role in conducting the research and disseminating its findings. You will be the lead researcher supporting the evaluation of the project.This includes managing the data collection from participants including from both care recipients and care provider organisations and conducting the analysis of quantitative and qualitative data.
The project will involve conducting in person, telephone and online surveys and interviews at multiple data collection time points as part of a repeated measures research design.
You will be required to use expertise in implementation research methods to drive this. You will help maintain relationships with NHS and Local Government colleagues, and assist in recruiting participating organisations, where necessary. You will also be responsible for writing up the research findings for publications and other dissemination avenues and supporting other project-related tasks as needed (e.g. writing reports, communicating with wider national evaluation leads).You will have a PhD in Health Research, Public Health or a relevant applied social sciences discipline, or a Masters level degree plus equivalent research experience.
You will have experience of quantitative and qualitative research methods and analyses.Knowledge and experience of ethics applications, and collecting, managing and analysing mixed methods data are essential, as is experience of liaising with and collecting data with people who may be experiencing some poor health, or sensory or cognitive impairment.
Knowledge and experience of undertaking interviews and strong computer literacy skills are also essential (i.e. Microsoft packages Word, Excel, Teams).It would also be advantageous to have knowledge and/or experience within the project's relevant topic areas such as ageing, telehealth, implementation evaluation.
This is a commissioned evaluation partnership with the Lancashire and South Cumbia Integrated Care Board and Lancashire County Council, funded by the Adult Social Care Technology Fund (Digital Transformation Fund) – Care Technology Fund, NHS-England.
The post will be based in the Division of Health Research at Lancaster University and may involve travel within the region.
