    Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Employer type NHS Site St. Peter's Hospital Town Chertsey Salary £72,428 - £83,149 pa inc. Peter's Hospital, Chertsey, Surrey is situated in greenbelt parkland between Woking and Chertsey near junction 11 of the M25. It is also close to junction 2 of the M3 with good transport links to the surrounding area.
    The main centres of population served by the hospital are Woking, Weybridge, Chertsey, Staines and Walton on Thames. Peter's Hospital was built to serve casualties of the Second World War.

    Over the years, the Hospital has been rebuilt, developed and extended to include maternity services, a department/clinic area and a new theatre complex.


    Services include:
    Accident and emergency services
    Emergency surgical and medical care
    Elective and day-case surgery
    Orthopaedics (Rowley Bristow unit)
    Maternity care
    Paediatric services (children's services)
    Neonatal intensive care unit which provides care for acutely ill babies
    X ray, ultrasound, CT scans, endoscopy (using cameras to look inside the body) and MRI scans
    Pathology services (provided through the Surrey and Berkshire Pathology Service)

    Ashford Hospital, situated on the A30 to the west of London, close to the junction 13 of the M25 and Heathrow Airport.

    The hospital continues to provide a wide range of medical and mainly day surgical services, outpatients services, ophthalmology, inpatient rehabilitation, and includes theAshfordWalk-in Centre (run by CSH Surrey).

    The main centres of population served by the hospital are Ashford, Staines, Sunbury, Shepperton, Feltham, Hanworth, Bedfont, Hampton, Teddington, Wraysbury and Heathrow Airport.


    Services include:
    Elective Surgery
    Ophthalmology
    Outpatients (including paediatrics) and diagnostics; X ray, ultrasound, and MRI scans
    Inpatient Rehabilitation
    Outpatient Midwifery hub

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and senior midwife to contribute to the development and implementation of Key objectives across the Women's Health and Paediatric Division.

    The post holder will work alongside the Director of Midwifery, Deputy Chief Nurses, maternity, and Neonatal Senior Leadership Team, and ICB Surrey and Heartlands.

    You will contribute to the development of the Maternity and Neonatal Improvement Plan (MNIP), play an active role within the Local Maternity and Neonatal System (LMNS) and involve in the delivery of the MatNeo Health Strategy.

    Following significant investment aligned to our clinical strategy in our women's health services including Gynaecology and Maternity, we have achieved development of a range of several innovative roles, an upgrade in our departmental estate, and significant success in recruiting midwifery talent to deliver care to our women, birthing partners, and babies in our maternity service.

    Our next stage is to recruit our senior leadership team.

    We seek a successor to our current Director of Midwifery who has led this transformation, and to the Head of Midwifery role to lead our expanding team.

    Both roles attract a Relocation package.

    You will be taking the lead on midwifery and maternity development programmes, midwifery and nurse staffing including recruitment and retention, measuring, and improving standards of care and the women's experience.

    The post holder will develop a strong leadership presence in the unit forming strong bonds with the staff and evidencing compassionate leadership.

    The post holder is pivotal to ensuring the direct delivery of clinical care is safe, timely and compassionate.

    The post holder will lead a consistent and standardised approach across the organisation to delivery and achievement of NHS Resolution Safety Actions, as well as supporting CNST recommendations, Ockenden and Kirkup recommendations and implementation of national maternity initiatives.

    In addition to Maternity Services, this post will also provide clinical leadership for our gynaecology service and nurses. This role will participate in the Midwifery manager on call rota.

    We are looking for a high calibre exceptional individual who has an established record of leadership and extensive experience working at Senior Midwifery Leadership level or already working at Head of Midwifery level.

    The Head of Midwifery (HOM) will be a senior practicing midwife who provides overall operational leadership and direction for Midwives and Nursing staff within the Maternity and Gynaecology Services.

    The post holder will be the lead midwife to support delivery of the maternity transformation Plan and the National Maternity Agenda.

    You will be a point of contact for advice and expertise on all matters relating to professional nursing and midwifery issues.

    The post holder will lead and deliver the work streams for the maternity transformation programme as outlined within the national maternity agenda including the anticipated single delivery plan.

    Working in partnership with women, birthing people and expert consumer groups you will be responsible for designing a quality service that promotes a positive health model delivering change in service provision in line with existing and new government policies.

    The post holder will ensure the delivery of key quality, performance and governance plans and work collaboratively to deliver the Trust's strategic direction, finance and business agenda.

    Work with the Director of Midwifery for Women's Health and Paediatrics ( WHP), to develop and implement a strategic vision for maternity /gynaecology services.

    The post holder will be responsible for defined initiatives across a range of issues, particularly with respect to continuous improvement in patient care delivery pathways and clinical quality.

    Provide assurance of proactive management of clinical and cost improvement plans, ensuring appropriate actions are taken to mitigate or respond to identified risks.

    They will support the DoM for the delivery of a complex agenda which drives efficiency and quality initiatives across maternity and Gynaecology.

    Integral to the role is the delivery of work streams within the wider health economy and the local maternity system (LMNS) to ensure that maternity care is reflective of the national agenda for maternity services, namely the Three year Delivery Plan -National Maternity Agenda

    As Head of Midwifery the post holder will have professional and managerial responsibilities for midwifery within the trust and will deliver services across the 3 maternity pathways for antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care within the acute hospital site and community which includes collaborative working with Surrey Heartlands transformation board and is professionally accountable to the DoM.

    Ensure that service user information is current and accurate and helpful for women to make choices about the services being offered and involve users in the production of such information.

    Support the Quadrumvirate team in integrating the work of the midwifery, nursing, administrative and other professional/clinical staff to align these around the delivery of effective and efficient services.

    Contribute to the development of the midwifery profession through proactive involvement in local, regional and national forums.

    Support the DoM to ensure professional nursing leadership with appropriate structures are in place which support midwives and nurses at all levels.

    Ensure that all statutory requirements are met and that all midwifery practice is consistent with the NMC rules and codes of practice.

    Support to the Quadrumvirate in identifying key drivers for change and opportunities for growing, improving and redesigning services and initiating strategic implementation plans.

    Lead the continued strategic development of maternity hubs and the continuity of carer model in alignment with NHSE guidance.

    Interpret overall health service policy and strategy in order to establish goals and standards
    Qualifications and Further Training
    Must be an NMC Registered Midwife (RM)
    BSc in Healthcare or equivalent
    Education to Master's Degree level or equivalent experience
    Recent senior Midwifery operational role at Grade 8B or above in an acute setting
    Proven Experience of leading corporate wide/cross boundary projects
    Proven Experience of budgetary/financial management
    Experience of working in a community setting
    Good understanding of current and developing NHS policy
    Knowledge of the governance agenda and role of CQC, NHSI, NHSE etc.
    Knowledge of performance management systems
    Understanding of strategic planning
    Proven workforce planning and development and negotiation skills
    Demonstrable analytic skills and pragmatic approach to the data interpretation
