The plastic admin team, is a dedicated administrative team working together to offer a service to patients across Lancashire and South Cumbria.

There is an exceptional strong work ethic to support the delivery of care across the region.


Flexible working can be considered within the post, with staff working together to provide the best care to the patients referred into plastic surgery.


You will be responsible for the day to day management of a team of support medical secretaries providing secretarial and administrative support to consultants, junior medical staff and any other staff.

You will ensure the efficient channelling of communication between medical staff, GPs, patients, relatives, members of the public and other disciplines within the Trust.


You holder will demonstrate excellent organisational skills, must be flexible in approach, able to exercise initiative and demonstrate a consistently high standard of professionalism, being aware of the need for confidentiality and integrity.

Develop and maintain effective working relationships with clinicians, managers and others within the Plastics and Trust wide service users.

Be the point of contact for all non-routine enquires facilitating communication and information flows, initiating and responding to correspondence and resolving enquires

Investigate and respond to complaints/incident forms as required, taking action where necessary and reporting to General Manager

Undertake Medical Secretarial Duties

  • Diary management
  • Collation of papers for consultants in support of the preparation for meetings/presentation or the development of reports etc
  • Typing of clinic letters or other correspondence produced by consultants, junior medical staff and any other staff.
  • Prepare presentation material including power point.
  • Utilisation of local or Trust case note tracking system.
  • Filing of reports and results.
Action results for cancer patients, ensuring medical and nurse specialists are aware of the results

Identify and manage first line performance or conduct issues in line with Trust policy and Human resource advice.

Plans and organises own work and allocates work to the medical secretarial and clerical/administrative support staff.

Where necessary coordinate on call rotas and organise cover for clinics.

Where necessary undertake the management of waiting lists for the Directorate.

Responsible for day to day management and practical training of medical secretarial support staff.
