    Background

    The Sustainability team is responsible for the direction, management and improvement of institutional sustainability, including environmental monitoring and compliance across four workstreams: Education, Research, Operations and Engagement.

    As part of the Property and Facilities department, the team collaborate with colleagues across Professional Services and the Schools to embed sustainability across all of the University's activities. The team works across all areas of environmental and social sustainability, using the United Nations Global Goals for Sustainable Development as a framework.

    Responsibilities

    The appointee will be responsible for designing, developing and supporting delivery against new objectives to be launched during 2024, in cooperation with colleagues in the Sustainability Team and across the University.

    The role reports into the Director of Property and Facilities Department and is accountable to the Chair of The Sustainability Board. Other senior stakeholders will include the Strategic Programmes Board and the Estates and Technology Board.

    Person Specification

    The appointee will have postgraduate, or equivalent work experience, relating to environmental and social sustainability issues (including energy efficiency decarbonisation, sustainable procurement, waste management, food, travel, etc.) and or built environment/ property postgraduate with modules or courses on sustainability and/ or energy.

    Experience of external carbon and sustainability reporting/auditing frameworks such as TCFD, TCDD, SECR, GRI SBTi is also required.
