Join us as a part of our manufacturing team, helping to supply the PCB assemblies that drive our award-winning range of Processing and Measurement equipment, used in Laboratories all around the world.

With the flexibility of part-time hours during term time and exams and the option for full-time hours during holidays, this is an excellent opportunity for an undergraduate or post-graduate student to gain valuable industry experience at a fast-growing company in the scientific sector.


Working closely with the team in our unique open plan office and manufacturing space, you will be able to practice and improve your soldering skills, gain experience working in a rapidly growing SME, as well as making practical use of electronic theory to identify and rectify faults on defective PCB assemblies.


The Role
Initially, the primary tasks of this role will include:

  • Soldering through hole and SMD components to PCB assemblies, for production and/or rework, as directed by our Electronics Technician.
  • Assisting with the inspection of PCB assemblies arriving from our suppliers and creating reports on any defective boards.
  • Calibration and testing of PCB assemblies in accordance with Ossila's set test procedures.
  • Helping to maintain stock levels of associated electronic components, in order to meet wider production demand.


As you become proficient at these tasks, you will also gain the opportunity to receive additional training in the fault finding and rectification of defective PCB assemblies, as well as acquiring experience soldering more advanced SMD/SMT components.


About You


If you are confident in your soldering skills (ideally both through hole and SMD/SMT) then this is the role for you.


You should also meet the following requirements:

  • Experience of and/or training in soldering (through hole and SMD/SMT)
  • Highly organised and selfmotivated
  • UK work permit holder and/or the legal right to work in the UK
  • Ability to reliably commute to Attercliffe, Sheffield

Desirable traits

  • Experience in PCB Assembly
  • Knowledge of electronic theory
Experience of and/or training in any of the following:

  • Quality Management practices
  • Microsoft Access and databases
