There is an opportunity for an
ambitious, qualified, and experienced Accountant to join our Cloud Accounting (we call it Outsourcing) team here at Carter Backer Winter LLP in an
Assistant Manager role.

Who are we? CBW is a Top 60, 17 Partner Accountancy Practice, with over 160 exceptional team members. Your potential team is 19 strong and operates under the marvellous leadership of Nicola, one of our directors.


The Assistant Manager role is a new level to the team and will be working closely with one of our Senior Managers whose portfolio is bursting at the seams And with more work being won,
an experienced pair of hands is required to come on board and manage your very own portfolio.


You wouldn't be expected to do this all on your own, your experience of delegating work, setting budgets, and
reviewing junior team members' work will be well used.

You would also be working with our outsourcing firm based in India, delegating work and reviewing.


This role is a 'reviewing not doing' role, providing guidance and training to junior team members, contributing to performance feedback on assignments and building relationships with clients, being the first point of contact for any clientqueries.


70% of your portfolio is statutory annual accounts, with the remaining a mixture of management accounts, VAT returns and providing general tax and accounting advice to clients. With regards to tax advice, anything complex would be referredto our Tax team.

  • Hugely varied but will include FCA regulated businesses, Solicitors (SAR), Investment, Retail, Charities...

Systems

  • Outsourcing team works with CCH, Xero, Cortax, Silverfin, Virtual Cabinet and all the normal MS Teams, Word, Excel and Outlook

Hybrid working - 3 days in the office, 2 days from home

Flexible working - 35 hours a week, can be worked between 7am - 7pm, around you and what's important to you outside of work

As with any job we think there are a few things that would help you succeed from the start, these include:


  • ACA / ACCA qualified
  • with a strong accounting services background dealing with a wide range of clients in a practice environment

Strong technical knowledge - bit of an obvious one, but you will need to have an excellent working knowledge of IFRS 102 s1A and UK GAPP

Reviewing:

- the bulk of this role is reviewing work, good experience of reviewing in house and outsourced teams work will put you in good stead

Commercial acumen:

- able to identify business opportunities to promote other services lines to clients

Have a desire to take responsibility for continuing to support development of your team

Strong IT skills - we use Excel, CCH for Accounts Production, Xero, Cortax and Silverfin

Excellent communication skills, comfortable liaising with team members and holding meetings with clients.
