    Central Cheshire Integrated Care Partnership(CCICP) are looking to recruit to an exciting opportunity within an established team of Band 7 Neurology physiotherapists. We are seeking an experienced neuro physiotherapist with a clear commitment and interest in neurology conditions

    The post is fixed term for a minimum of 12 months and is 18.75 hours a week. The bases are primarily at Leighton Hospital but will also include some community sites within CCICP as required. The successful candidate would be working alongside highly experienced band 7 Physiotherapists but will still need strong clinical leadership and organizational skills. Considerable experience in the management of neurological conditions within a NHS setting is therefore essential along with clear commitment to specialist interest group.

    Main duties of the job The role will involve working independently as an autonomous practitioner delivering clinical assessment and treatment of patients referred with neurological conditions by their consultant, GP or specialist nurses.

    The Physiotherapy service puts a strong emphasis on the development of staff utilizing a robust appraisal framework, with a variety of CPD opportunities available. As a Band 7 you will be required to lead and support the development of others including colleagues, students, GPs and other healthcare professionals. Additionally you would also be expected to support delivery of peer review, mentorship, training for all aspects of neurological management. You will be expected to lead service projects and audit to ensure high quality, evidence based practice enabling standardized care for all across the service. The Trust, which manages Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Victoria Infirmary in Northwich, and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford, was established as an NHS Trust in April 1991 and became a Foundation Trust in April 2008.

    • To act as an expert source of knowledge, offering specialist clinical advice and support to other healthcare professional and agencies across organisational boundaries.
    • To work autonomously to manage a defined highly complex patient caseload whilst working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
    • To contribute to the delivery of the service in a variety of defined clinical settings, which may include in-patient wards, out-patient and community clinics and the patients home.
    • To respect the individuality, values, cultural and religious diversity of patients, contributing to the provision of a service sensitive to these needs.
    • To utilise highly advanced communication skills to ensure clinical advice and treatment programmes are delivered sensitively, taking into consideration the needs of carers.
    • To gain consent for treatment and motivate patients to comply with treatment programmes, overcoming barriers such as dementia, cognitive impairment, hearing, visual or speech impairment.
    • To comply with the Mental Capacity Act to gain valid and informed consent to specific treatment and intervention for patients who lack capacity to consent themselves.
    • To undertake highly specialist clinical assessment, taking into account all relevant information and clinical reasoning to formulate evidence based individualised treatment plans in agreement with the patient.
    • To implement highly specialist individual and/or group interventions for patients with diverse presentations and highly complex needs.
    • To monitor progress and review treatment plans and interventions to facilitate the achievement of goals.
    • To provide appropriate oral and written information for patients and carers where relevant.
    • To develop and maintain good working relationships with other healthcare professions, social care and other appropriate agencies, to ensure integrated and high quality patient outcomes.
    • To work as a member of the multidisciplinary team, contributing to decisions with regard to patient care programmes through attendance at ward rounds, case conferences and other multidisciplinary meetings.
    • To maintain accurate documentation in line with professional standards and local policies and procedures.
    • To provide accurate and timely written information and reports to referring agents and other agencies where appropriate.
    • To record and submit clinical activity data as required by the Trust in an accurate and timely manner.
    • To ensure the safe and timely discharge of patients from the caseload liaising with other agencies as required.
    • To be responsible for safe and competent use of equipment including the provision of support, education and training to other staff, patients and carers as required.
    • To identify appropriate equipment and adaptation needs, liaising with equipment providers, completing paperwork and complying with any tracking, stock control and maintenance systems as required.
    • To take the lead for clinical audit and research within a highly specialist field of practice, developing clinical practice and treatment outcomes.
    • To demonstrate the ability to critically evaluate current research, applying it to practice and disseminating the relevant findings.
    • To support and advise junior staff and students who undertake audit and research within the service.
