Description
Already working in Telecoms but looking to work for the client on a full fibre network, a role that will support you with a training pathway that will include external sector accredited courses on underground and overhead PIA, NRSWA, etc, as well as internal training on the Gigaclear network, fibre splicing and testing?A starting salary of £28,000 to £32,000 dependent upon experience and current qualifications / accreditations?Reporting to the Operations Manager and the Senior Technician on a day ot day basis, the Field Engineer will then be responsible for a variety of tasks involved in the Break Fix of the Gigaclear FTTH / FTTP network.
The Field Engineer will be responsible for ensuring all works meet Gigaclear standards as well as compliance with NRSWA, SROH and the relevant build, break fix & fibre specifications.
Key Accountability & ResponsibilitiesDelivery of the allocated Break Fix schedules, working with stakeholders to deliver on time, safely and to standardBreak Fix could include – traditional underground / buried network as well as PIA overhead and underground issues and fixService repair on PIA PON network communitiesInitial first response to Gigaclear's overhead poles to assess and feedback for contractor instructionFibre splicing and testingResponsibility for their own and teams' assurance across quality and Health & Safety standardsKnowledge & ExperienceA background in Civils, Fibre and / or Telecoms, ideally fibre optic networks (FTTH / FTTP)Previous experience of installations, fault fix, repair and / or maintenanceAbility to troubleshoot, diagnose and fault fix network issuesPrevious knowledge and experience of in the field Civils specifications desirable – eg NRSWAAble to understand, interpret and adhere to risk & method assessmentsQualifications & AccreditationsFull driving licence (manual), held for 12 months+DBS check (or ability to pass)Ideally already hold a NRSWA Operative accreditationGigaclear delivers fibre-optic broadband to underserved rural communities in England.
