    An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced radiographer to join the team at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

    This Senior Radiographer role is for those not simply interested in the routine, day-to-day radiographer positions which may be offered elsewhere. Main duties of the job Post-holders will be radiographers who are keen to be part of an imaging service with a difference.Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust's (CWHFT) imaging directorate is going through a period of transformational change where innovation is at the forefront of what we do.We are seeking senior radiographers who wish to work at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital so that they are surrounded by people who put patients first but are also keen to invest in themselves and the organisation. The Trust has a commitment to develop band 6 radiographers by exposing them to all modalities including
    • General radiography
    • OPG
    • CT
    • MRI
    • Fluoroscopy
    • Interventional
    • BMD
    • Nuclear Medicine, CWH site
    The successful applicants will be required to work a minimum of 37.5 hours per week. Job description Job responsibilities Responsibilities include: 1. Approach all situations with curiosity, interest and with the potential to innovate.2. To undertake all radiographic duties efficiently and to the highest quality standards.4. To ensure that all patients receive the best possible standard of care.5. Commitment to ensuring own development by exposing self to all necessary modalities at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital or West Middlesex University Hospital.6. To be conversant with procedures in general and screening rooms, ED, mobile and theatre radiography. Additionally, the post holder will be expected to become proficient in the more specialised techniques e.g. CT, IR and MRI.7. Assist with practical training of junior staff and student radiographers, acting as a role model through leading by example.8. Communicate with other staff members to ensure the smooth running of the directorate.9. Ensure that Radiation Protection guidelines, IR(ME)R, IRR, etc. guidelines and local rules are strictly adhered to.10. Ensure that all guidelines relating to staff and patient safety are adhered to whilst in the MRI unit.11. Ensure that the rules and procedures of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 are strictly adhered to, and that all working areas are kept clean and safe.12. Participate in departmental quality assurance programmes as required.13. Proactively demonstrate interest in developing oneself professionally by proposing QI projects, collecting data and presenting at inter/national conferences.14. Participate in research studies conducted at CWHFT, including those as part of Imperial College.15. Report and record all equipment faults as well as be able to assist with the diagnosis and remedy of routine faults.16. Participate in the on call and stand by rotas as required.17. To offer an initial assessment and interpretation of images produced by themselves or more junior staff in the course of their role.18. Comply with, and be able to demonstrate and instruct, safe manual handling techniques.19. Comply with and be able to demonstrate safe infection control measures.20. Strive to achieve competencies required to progress to band 7 radiographer role.21. To demonstrate flexibility and adaptability with rostering requirements to ensure a robust and safe imaging service across the Trust.22. Maintain a high level of commitment to, and take responsibility for continuing professional development (CPD). The post holder is encouraged by the department to attend both personal and professional development activities that assist in their role and the service.23. The post holder will be required to actively participate in a periodic professional development review, in accordance with Trust guidelines.24. To undertake any other duties which may be appropriate to the post. General Covid-19 vaccination is a condition of employment for this role, unless an exemption applies.     • BSc (Hons) Radiography, DCR (R) or accepted international equivalent
    • HCPC registration
    Desirable
    • Member of SOR
    • Interest in further study and CPD including research
    • Quality Improvement (QI), transformation or innovation training
    • Post graduate qualification in imaging e.g. CT
    • NHS experience
    Experience Essential
    • Broad general radiography experience at radiographer level
    • Proven acumen for approaching all situations with an open mind and 'can-do' attitude
    Desirable
    • Demonstrable Quality Improvement (QI), transformation or innovation experience
    • Exposure to specialist techniques e.g. IR, Cath Lab, Mammography, etc
    • Student supervision responsibilities
    • Competency assessment responsibilities
    • Experience with writing protocols, policies and/or procedures
    • Radiation protection supervisor training
    • IV cannulation trained and competent
