    Job Summary

    As a Band 7 MRI Radiographer at North Mid, you'll be responsible for conducting high-quality MRI scans on patients using advanced imaging techniques and equipment to generate precise diagnostic images. Your role includes evaluating patient suitability for MRI scans, ensuring their safety and comfort during the process, and providing clear instructions to enhance image quality. Apart from clinical responsibilities, you'll collaborate with radiologists and healthcare professionals to interpret results and contribute to patient treatment plans. Additionally, you may be involved in training junior staff, implementing quality assurance measures, and participating in departmental audits to maintain care standards.

    Main Duties of the Job

    We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with fresh ideas who can collaborate effectively with our team. Operating hours are flexible, with one scanner operating 7 days a week and the other 5 days a week. The post holder will showcase expertise in various MR scanning areas, participate in the standby system on holidays, and work according to standard procedures and legal guidelines.

    Job Description

    • To evaluate referrals for radiology procedures following MHRA and RCR guidelines to ensure patient safety.
    • Complete MR safety questionnaires for each patient, addressing contraindications promptly.
    • Report abnormal findings promptly for patient management.
    • Take clinical responsibility for designated patients and allocate resources efficiently.
    • Provide patients with advice regarding referrals and hospital procedures.
    • Assess patient understanding and obtain valid consent for procedures.
    • Operate specialist radiological equipment and review images accurately.
    • Ensure timely presentation of images for reporting purposes.
    • Use evidence-based practice to enhance MR radiographic service.
    • Analyze and prioritize asset and resource use for imaging services.
    • Troubleshoot complex equipment issues and provide recommendations.
    • Participate in designing and delivering training programs and research programs.
    • Lead and design clinical audit programs.
    • Offer mentorship or preceptorship support as needed.

    Person Specification

    MRI Band 7 Radiographer Requirements

    Essential

    • BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography.
    • HCPC registration.
    • NHS experience.
    • Understanding of MRI Physics, MHRA guidelines, and MRI scanning ability.
    • IV Cannulation course.

    Desirable

    • PgC in MRI.
    • Experience in training staff.
    • Performed audits.
