    At the heart and soul of London since 1895 West Ham United is a dynamic, fan-focused football Club constantly moving forward but always with an eye on the past.

    Our home at the London Stadium has a capacity of 62,500 making it one of the biggest club Stadia in the country however our tickets are the lowest priced for London based clubs in the Premier League, echoing objectives to create Affordable Family Football.

    In 2018, our Women's team gained a professional status for the very first time, jumping 2 divisions and competed in the Women's Super League (WSL), the premier division of women's football in England. After finishing a respectable 7th, the team enjoyed particular success in the FA Cup reaching the final of the competition, eventually being beaten by 2017 winners Manchester City.

    In April 2019, we opened our brand-new Academy facility based at Chadwell Heath which will help to bring through some of the very best talents in the area, the recent emergence of First Team Players Declan Rice and Ben Johnson are a testament to the work already being done at the Academy.

    On the business side, we are continuing to create a Stadium our supporters can call home, with the renaming of the Billy Bonds Stand and Claret and Blue pitch surrounding amongst the latest developments. Additionally, the Club has achieved the Disability Confident Leader status.

    The Club employees a constantly growing workforce of approximately 300 core staff and 500 Foundation and events staff, and is a truly unique place to work. We welcome talented individuals who will thrive in our ambitious organisation.

    In October 2023, West Ham United was awarded the Advanced level of the Premier League Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Standard, recognising the Club's ongoing dedication and commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI). It is the second time West Ham United has received the award, which is the top accolade that can be achieved by Premier League clubs, having first been presented with the Advanced level in 2020.

    Advantage Mentor

    Hours: Full-time - 37.5/week (will consider part-time applicants where appropriate)

    Contract: Fixed term until March 2025

    Location: WHUF Beckton Hub, outreach across East London

    About Advantage

    Advantage is a 1:1 mentoring programme for young people aged 14-21 with mild to moderate mental health and wellbeing needs. It is an innovative partnership between football club community organisations and NHS CAMHS. Advantage uses youth work to connect with young people, with the mentor supported by a designated NHS clinician.

    Job Purpose

    This role is responsible for providing a 1:1 youth work mentoring service supporting a caseload of 20 young people every 6 months (on average), 40 across the year. They will work closely with partner agencies and their local NHS Trust to recruit young people on to programme, identify suitable progression routes and development opportunities that support young people, including but not limited to; health and wellbeing, life skills and education and employability.

    It is assumed that most of the mentoring will take place in the afternoons/evenings due to young people's commitments although some might take place during school/working hours.

    Key Responsibilities

    · Recruit participants on to programme to be assessed by CAMHS clinician before starting programme

    · Ensure that all young people are contacted within two working days of the CAMHS handover meeting

    · Meet with the young person and co-design a personal plan based around Goal Based Outcomes

    · Develop positive relationships with young people through a variety of youth work styles/methodologies

    · Support young people to access internal and external programmes in line with their needs and interests

    · Liaise with project leads to ensure young people are fully supported within their chosen programmes including support with resources

    · Deliver mental wellbeing support for young people and manage a caseload, providing support at suitable times for the referral either face to face or virtually

    · Develop and promote support for parents/guardians/carers so that they feel more confident in supporting their child/young person with their mental health and wellbeing

    · Establish, maintain and develop effective partnership working with stakeholders including relevant external agencies and organisations

    · Complete monitoring, evaluation and session recordings using internal systems, including contributing to the project monthly reports via appropriate systems

    · Ensure that all delivery, for which you are responsible, complies with health and safety and safeguarding requirements including the production of individual risk assessments

    · Attend all scheduled supervision, meetings and training events

    · To undertake professional development by participating in staff development (CPD) and training activities.

    · To support or lead other duties as requested by the line manager/organisation

    · A minimum level 2 in Youth Work, Mentoring and Safeguarding qualification or equivalent

    · Experience in 1-2-1 work/mentoring

    · Emergency First Aid Certificate

    · Mental Health Awareness training

    · Demonstrate a good understanding of how to engage young people

    · Demonstrably puts young people first and works in a person-centred way

    · Experience of partnership/inter-agency working as part of a team around complex young people

    Staff must follow the Club's Safeguarding reporting procedures to report without delay allegations of abuse, poor practice, or anything else that is or may impact the welfare of a child, young person, or adult at risk. After contacting and taking guidance from the Safeguarding Team, staff must use the Club's Child Protection Online Management System (CPOMS) to record the concern within 24 hours unless directed otherwise.
