    Description

    Become a Pharmacy Technician at University Hospital's Bristol and Weston NHS Trust, where you will specialise in providing pharmacy services across Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery.


    The Cardiac Pharmacy department are a small, close-knit team based at the award-winning Bristol Heart Institute, where long-lasting relationships are built on the foundation of hard work and knowledge.

    As a university hospital, UHBW is dedicated to development and education.

    The Cardiac Pharmacy team prides themselves on offering you the opportunity to flexiability around courses and study to ensure you're always able to progress.

    This post will form part of the core adult clinical service, being integrated into the adult cardiac team where you will assist with the day-to-day service.

    There is an opportunity to gain experience in performing appraisals and supporting junior staff.

    To manage time and resources, prioritise daily tasks depending on workload, staffing and the needs of the service to ensure that pharmacy services are provided in a timely and appropriate manner at all levels within the hospital.

    To assist the clinical pharmacists, medical and nursing staff in identifying, prioritising and resolving patient's medication related problems.

    To minimise risk to patients, the public and other healthcare professionals by giving appropriate advice on drug handling, administration and disposal.

    Qualifications and Training
    Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council
    Accredited Medicines Optimisation Technician (Essential within 12 months of appointment and for progression from Band 4 to Band 5)
    Accredited Checking Technician (Essential within 12 months of appointment and for progression from Band 4 to Band 5)
    Evidence of continuing professional development

    Proven ability to dispense medicines accurately without errors
    Experience of delivering dispensing services as a technician within a hospital
    Experience of medicines supply within the NHS
    Experience of supporting the training and teaching of others
    Previous participation in audit or quality improvement work
    Ability to work alone and in a team
    Computer literate
