    Director of Governance & Assurance

    Role:
    Director of Governance & Assurance
    Hours : 35 hours per week, Monday-Friday


    Contract:
    Permanent

    We are excited to be recruiting for a Director of Governance & Assurance on a permanent basis You'll be accountable for the business assurance activities, working collaboratively with our Executive Director of Finance to deliver robust risk managements.

    Being our internal expect on governance, regulatory & legal compliance, you'll work with the board, executive & senior leadership teams, ensuring the highest standards of governance are met.

    We are avid supporters of agile working, and you will be provided with all IT equipment in order to work flexibly between your home and at our Dartford office.

    Moat are one of the top 30 housing associations in England, with homes spread across London, Kent, Essex and Sussex.

    Our financial strength puts us in a good position to rise to challenges and plan for the future. Our corporate strategy involves being bold and ambitious, investing in new and existing homes, putting safety and quality first.

    We also deliver for and with our customers through our new Customer Engagement strategy, which will help us to deliver the requirements of the Social Housing White Paper.

    We're not your 'standard' housing association.

    Since then, we have assisted thousands of people to become shared owners, many of whom now own their homes outright but they still have a relationship with Moat as leaseholders and as part of the community on our developments.

    As a not-for-profit organisation we are funded by a mixture of private finance and government grant.

    We reinvest any surplus we make to maintain and improve our existing homes and communities, while also building new homes to address the ongoing housing shortage.

    We hold a strong belief in collaborative working, therefore work in partnership with various local authorities, to enable us to leverage our collective strengths and expertise to deliver meaningful outcomes for our customers and wider communities.

    Governance - To promote high standards of corporate governance ensuring Moat meet its legal, governance & regulatory obligations.

    Company Secretarial - To facilitate effective functioning of the board, to win the confidence of and to act as a confidential sounding board for the Chair and other board members, oversee the Statutory administration of Moat and its subsidiaries, providing general non-specialist legal guidance to Moat colleagues as required.

    Risk & Assurance - Oversee Moat's risk management framework, managing an effective internal audit programme, tendering and monitoring the appointed Internal Auditor's performance.

    Strategy & Policy - Oversee Moat's governance framework for strategies, policies and procedures.

    Leadership & Management - Lead the Governance and Assurance team and promote cross-departmental working and relationship building, setting annual budget and monitor budgetary performance, and provide timely forecast, providing support through objective setting, appraisal and personal development plans to all direct reports.

    Chartered Governance Institute or other relevant professional qualification.
    Expertise in Company Secretarial / Governance in public or not-for-profit companies managing non-executive boards.

    A thorough understanding of the areas for which the role is responsible for, in particular, in relation to the regulatory environment set by the Regulator of Social Housing and the legal requirements associated with being a Community Benefit Society.

    Experience working with senior management team, stakeholders and trustees.
    Excellent reporting writing and communication skills.
    Evidence of in-depth knowledge in risk management and assurance
    Evidence of in-depth knowledge corporate governance matters.
