    UHCW is looking for Occupational Therapists to join our Acute Stroke Therapy Team.


    The role provides opportunities to utilise and develop your skills and knowledge in assessing and designing interventions to manage altered cognition, assessing and supporting patient's psychological well-being, assessing and addressing changes in physical abilities, and working with patients to enable timely discharges from the Acute setting.


    The role is part of a wider MDT which includes Physios, Nurses, Neuro-Psychology, and Dietitians, to name a few, and is based on our stroke wards which include hyper-acute and acute beds.

    As a Band 6 into a new role, you will be supernumerary for 2 weeks. This will allow you to get to know the team, service and Trust and highlight any training needs.

    A Band 5-6 development post may be considered for the right candidate.

    So if you have stroke/neuro experience, core clinical experience and an interest in Stroke, but don't know if you are quite ready for a Band 6, then please still apply.

    To provide the best care, we offer a 7 day service but don't worry, we know to be at your best you need downtime and time to recharge - but you should be prepared to work weekends on a rolling basis too.

    Ensure development of junior staff through supervision, training and annual appraisal.

    Contribute to the maintenance and development of the Trust Occupational Therapy


    Take a lead for information management to ensure high quality data which is recorded, evaluated & reported in a timely manner.

    Be professional, legally responsible & accountable for all aspects of own work and activities, to manage clinical risk within own clinical caseload.


    Support the production of an annual report specific to own clinical area & participate in the delivery of the Therapy business plan.

    Work in accordance with RCOT & HCPC rules of professional conduct and within local care pathways, policies and standards.


    Establish and maintain effective communication networks with patients, carers, MDT, other workers and agencies across health, social care and the private sector locally and regionally.

    Promote awareness of the role of Occupational Therapy.


    Network nationally across other Occupational Therapy providers and educators for the development of best practice & improve service delivery for patients.

    Be responsible for the supervision and written assessment of Occupational Therapy students on practice placement within the Trust.


    Contribute to the Trusts Divisional and Teams clinical governance arrangements and quality agenda, including the setting and monitoring of practice standards, clinical risks, CAE & Health & Safety.

    Be involved / assist in the recruitment and selection of junior staff.

    Effective communication - in person, written and over the telephone

    Organising an allocated workload, planning and prioritising work to achieve objectives and meet deadline.
