Job summary

The Clinical Lead is responsible for:

Supporting the Director to produce a clinical vision and clinicalstrategy for the anticoagulant monitoring service (AMS).

Clinically leading all anticoagulantmonitoring services delivered by IntraHealth.

Providing support and clinicalleadership and mentoring to the anticoagulant monitoring service, Local ServiceLeads, Clinicians delivering the service, and the service support team.

Overall clinical performance of each ofthe anticoagulant monitoring services and the individual operatives analysingperformance and providing feedback, guidance, and encouragement in order tomeet clinical objectives of the service.

Ensuring that a safe and efficientanticoagulant monitoring service is delivered.

As necessary prescribe initiation dosesof anticoagulation agents, Vitamin K and related agents.

Leading the patient complaint andsignificant event processes for the AMS service.

Ensuring that clear clinical benchmarksare set (KPIs) for clinicians to provide a safe and efficient service,including TTR, patient recall rates, clinical activity and reviews of clinicand domiciliary slots.

Providing a central point of contact forthe Commissioner of the Anticoagulant Monitoring Service and associatedcomplaints.

Main duties of the job

1. Supporting the Director to produce a clinical vision and clinical strategy for IntraHealths anticoagulant monitoring service.

2. Managing, maintaining, and improving the quality, safety and clinical performance for all Anticoagulant Monitoring Services delivered by IntraHealths Divisions (CSD, Primary Care and Community Pharmacy).

3. Develop and implement specialist policies, clinical protocols, and guidelines within IntraHealth relating to anticoagulant care. Specific responsibilities include anticoagulation guidelines.

4. Liaise with ICBs / commissioners / PCNs when required and assist in the continued development of the anticoagulant monitoring service.

5. Clinical management of all clinicians and non-clinicians delivering the service.

7. Ensure that all staff maintain competencies to deliver a safe and effective service.

8. Ensure that service meets or exceeds clinical targets.

9. Interact with service users to address queries, complaints and achieve high satisfaction. Provide a prompt and effective response liaising with colleagues where appropriate.

10. Supporting clinical services business manager with Complaints handling:

a. ensure all patient complaints are dealt with in line with insurers, Company, commissioner, and NHS procedures.

We are looking for an enthusiastic professional to join us in a new roleof Data Officer to support our ClinicalServices Division (which includes School Immunisation contracts and AnticoagulationMonitoring Service contracts) based at our Head Office in the William BrownCentre, Peterlee, County Durham and/or at one of our offices across the regionsin which we operate (North West ,Yorkshire or Midlands).

Providing a central point of contact for the Commissioner of the Anticoagulant Monitoring Service and associated complaints.

Providing an expert resource, advice, and support to clinicians within the anticoagulant monitoring service by using expert knowledge, skills, and experience.

Ensuring that staff within the service maintain their competencies.

Clinical accountability for all clinical and non-clinical staff involved in delivering the service, to the Directors and the Board.

10. Supporting clinical services business manager with Complaints handling:

b. supporting clinicians through patient complaints & any subsequent process whether internal or external.

11. Ensure that necessary action is taken to meet service clinical objectives and compliance (including CQC).

12. Work with the Clinical Services Business Manager, AMS Training Lead and Locality Leads to support the mobilisation of services and associated activities as required.

13. Support the Clinical Services Business Manager in ensuring that clinical pathways and processes are considered when delivering change and identifying continuous improvement activities and service innovation, including any CQC requirements.

14. Attend and participate in meetings / conferences nationally relating to the provision of anticoagulant monitoring as required by Directors.

15. Be responsible for identifying risks associated with the anticoagulant monitoring services delivered by IntraHealth and addressing them.

16. Assure all company policies are adhered to.

17. Developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders locally and nationally.

18. Identifying and implementing innovations to enhance the existing service.

19. Provide clinical leadership for the implementation of the anticoagulant monitoring service plan, service improvements and any other national guidelines/policies as published.

20. Review and monitor key clinical performance standards and measures for the service, including those related to the volume, quality and safety of clinical activity and the impact on service improvement.

21. Ensure that all staff receive appropriate training and development.

22. Review reports from performance monitoring team on clinical KPIs and other clinical measures.

23. Clinical governance and audit.

24. Lead responsibility for all clinically significant events including management of event and undertaking root cause analysis on all clinical significant events and patient complaints.
