We are a national fabrication Company and a family-owned business with a thirst for innovation and a passion for engineering excellence.

Due to our increasing order books for 2023 and well beyond, we are looking for material handlers to continue to build our teams working on structural steel of varying grades and thicknesses for our long-term national infrastructure and housebuilding projects.

Overtime is plentiful both pre and post shift in the week and at the weekend with enhanced rates of time and half and double time.

Job Function:

Steel Production material handler is responsible for storing, moving, and handling materials. Moving and distributing material from one location to another. Carrying out the process of loading and off-loading material to be transported. Loading and off-loading fabricated steel products.

Job Duties:

Loading and offloading fabricated items according to load lifts and delivery schedule requirements whilst maintaining a safe and tidy working area.
Support new employees to the department/team to become familiar with the Company and their new work environment.
Follow safety procedures and regulations, including wearing personal protective equipment and adhering to the safe systems of working practices.
Adhering to Company quality procedures.
Structure work environment to maximise safety and minimise risks. Planning each job and addressing any safety issues before a job begins.
Maintaining inventory by identifying, labelling and placing materials and supplies in stock. Recording location of inventory.
Locate materials, verifying materials against requirement on production/sales order.
Maintains inhouses process when moving or receiving stock, ensuring material, supplier's codes, lot number and quantity are correct before placing materials in stock against supplier's delivery note.
Ensure all documentation relating to stock and location movement is completed correctly.
Preparing finished stock for transportation by identifying and checking Customer order or Job numbers are correct, pulling and packing product securely ready for loading.
Ensure paperwork is prepped ready for transporting.
Carry out daily checks of materialhandling equipment by completing preuse inspections. Reporting any defects to the relevant person.
Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed, contribute in team meetings towards improving work flow process.
Offloading inbound stock beams at door 2, keeping them and the yard organised and tidy.
Support the group and other material handlers when required, expectation of some cross over between designated areas.

Skills & Qualifications
Good written and verbal communication skills.

Good organisational skills.

Ability to structure workload

Good time management with the ability to meet deadline.

Minimum level of Introduction to Health & Safety.

Ideally experience of Stock control

Forklift Licence essential (Side Loading desirable)

Overhead Cranes (Essential)

Combi Lift / Side Loader

Counterbalance B2

Working Environment:

The role requires manual handling and dexterity. Working both in the Yard and Workshop areas.
