    Oswestry School is an independent, co-educational day & boarding school, with an 11-18 senior school of c.400 pupils (120 of whom board) and a 4-11 Prep School of c.120 pupils.

    The strong ethos of the school is reflected in its fabulous pastoral care and sense of community. The School is a member of HMC and has been judged 'excellent' in recent inspections. The School is growing in size and standing.

    Oswestry School is located at the heart of its market town on the Welsh borders, with easy access to the great outdoors as well as good links to the local town of Shrewsbury and the cities of Chester, Manchester and Birmingham.

    School Counsellor (Part-time, Self Employed)

    Oswestry School is seeking a part-time self-employed School Counsellor to join our counselling team and offer a regular counselling service which will promote and support the personal, social and emotional development and well-being of students, predominantly at the Senior School.

    They will contribute to raising the level of emotional literacy of the school and be a first-line response to mental health issues.

    The successful candidate will work closely with the School's pastoral and safeguarding teams to develop a programme of therapeutic interventions to support pupils, liaising with and supporting the school staff as well as parents/carers and other professionals.

    They will work to ensure a collaborative whole-school approach that best supports the pupils in our School. Duties will include writing session notes, planning sessions and updating the school's internal systems.
    This role is self-employed.

    You can choose your working hours but we are especially seeking someone who can work one or two days per week between 8.30 pm, term-time only.

    You must have a recognised qualification as well as a proven record of counselling children and young people, ideally within schools.

    An understanding of the developmental, emotional, social and educational issues of children and young people is essential.
