Specialist Conditions and Employment: Pensions - London, United Kingdom - ASCL

    Default job background
    Description
    Specialist

    Conditions and Employment:
    Pensions

Home based with some travel across England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Crown Dependencies.

Salary starting from £63,396 (£50,717 Pro rata, 0.8FTE)

Part time (0.8FTE equivalent to four days per week)

    Permanent.

The Association of School and College Leaders (ASCL) is the leading professional association and trade union for all school and college leaders.

We are proud to support and represent more than 25,000 members throughout the UK in primary, secondary and post-16 education who lead their schools and colleges to help to shape the future of the national education system and provide high quality professional development opportunities.

Our members are responsible for the education of more than four million young people and children. We work to shape national education policy, provide advice and support to our members and deliver first-class professional development.

ASCL is seeking to appoint a Conditions and

    Employment Specialist:
Pensions to influence national education policy and to help secure the most appropriate pensions provision for ASCL members. The vacancy arises through the retirement of the present postholder.

This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to help ensure that pension provisions best reflect the needs of the profession, thereby helping to secure a sufficient quality and quantity of education workforce.

The successful candidate will directly support ASCL members by giving advice on pensions related issues, as well as representing members views to government and other stakeholders.

The successful candidate will be representing the interests of members across England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Crown Dominions, so a knowledge of the relevant legislation, policy and procedures for jurisdictions other than England would be helpful.

The ideal candidate will have proven successful experience of senior leadership in an education policy organisation, trade union, pensions/financial organisation, education setting or equivalent organisation.

Their career to date will resonate with ASCL members, enabling the post holder to have credibility with members and stakeholders.

They will have a proven ability to negotiate with national bodies and other organisations, and the ability to develop and maintain strong and trusted relationships with a range of stakeholders.

They will be able think strategically and tactically, with agility in order to influence decision makers and secure positive outcomes for the Associations members.

The successful candidate will join an extremely well-regarded and supportive team of policy specialists and will be part of a small sub-team of three Conditions and Employment Specialists who focus on pay and pension policy.

Members of the Policy Directorate focus on different aspects of education policy but work together to provide cohesive advice to government and support to members.

The post-holder will work from home, with IT and telephone equipment provided, though the role involves some travel across the relevant jurisdictions to attend meetings with key stakeholders and deliver training, with overnight stays expected.

This is a 0.8FTE post, equivalent to four days per week, and flexible working requests will be considered.

This role is paid on a five-point incremental range from £63,396

    £70,072 (£50,717 - £56,058 pro rata 0.8FTE) per annum.

ASCL is an equal opportunities employer and offers a very generous package of benefits, including 33 days holiday plus bank holidays and a pension scheme to which the association contributes 9%.

Reasonable travel and out-of-pocket expenses are also covered, including a working from home allowance.

We encourage applications regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation.

    INTERESTED?

The closing date for applications is 4pm on Thursday 11 July 2024.

Interviews will be held in Leicester on Friday 19 July 2024.

    Start date:
    To be negotiated.
