We are currently in search of a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a primary school in Cwmbran. We are seeking an enthusiastic educator capable of fostering positive relationships with both students and staff.

This role will require supporting a class of pupils alongside fellow teaching assistants under the class teacher, you will also be required to support pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN).

Individuals with experience in ALN and supporting children outside the traditional classroom are strongly encouraged to apply.


A Successful Teaching Assistant will require:

  • To be registered with the EWC (Education Workforce Council)
  • Hold a Child only DBS certificate that is registered on the Update System.
  • Provide 2 professional references covering 24 months.

Responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant:


  • Proactively prepare the classroom to support the classroom teacher.
  • Facilitate independent working while promoting social interaction and engagement.
  • Offer social and emotional support to pupils.
  • Establish trusting relationships with students, tailoring interactions to their individual needs and personalities.
  • Adhere to the school's safeguarding and protection policies.
  • Address any behavioral issues that may arise.
  • Supervise small group activities, including reading and writing sessions.
  • Undertake various administrative tasks as needed, such as photocopying.
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
