    Job Summary

    Brant Ward is a 18-bed acute assessment ward for elderly people dealing with complex mental health issues. As part of the Older Persons and Frailty division, we have a fantastic opportunity to expand our nursing staff. We are looking for Band 6 Senior nurses who are passionate and committed to join our team dedicated to providing exceptional care.

    Brant Ward is currently focused on developing person-centered, evidence-based practices where the patient is the focal point of all our efforts, making it an ideal time to be part of our team. The ward plays a crucial role in the acute care pathway, working closely with our Home Treatment Team to ensure the highest quality of care.

    Main Duties of the Job

    - To lead the nursing team in providing care for individuals with severe mental illness and mental health problems

    - To offer clinical services in line with the trust's policies and procedures

    - To work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team to deliver a user-focused acute nursing service for people with acute mental health problems

    - To assess care requirements and create, implement, and evaluate care programs for those with acute mental health needs

    - Working patterns may include evenings, weekends, and bank holidays

    - Provide management supervision to junior staff

    - Take a Champion role in a special interest area, such as physical health, wound care, or safeguarding, with the opportunity to lead improvements on the ward

    Job Description

    Job Responsibilities

    Our care focus is on assessing and treating patients in a safe and compassionate setting. We are dedicated to providing person-centered care following the 6 Cs values, with the Senior Nurse role being pivotal in achieving this.

    The ideal candidate should guide the team with these values, aiding in developing our vision for an excellent center and maintaining high care standards.

    Candidates will contribute to the Brant Ward management team, providing guidance and leadership. Innovation, creativity, and strong managerial skills are highly desired to provide clinical direction to the teams.

    A clear understanding of the Trust's priorities and future strategic direction is vital for the successful candidate.

    The roles involve working shifts covering a 24-hour period, including nights and weekends.

    Person Specification

    Qualifications

    Essential

    • RMN or RNLD or RN: 1st Level Registration (NMC) or degree or equivalent
    • Mentorship Module (degree level)
    • Evidence of specialized continued professional training (degree level) in clinical practice

    Desirable

    • Certificate in clinical supervision
    • Management Training

    Experience

    Essential

    • Relevant experience working with adults with mental health needs or considerable experience working with individuals in crisis
    • Sound knowledge of the national mental health agenda
    • Understanding of clinical/risk assessment and Information Governance principles

    Desirable

    • Experience within mental health care in the NHS

    Skills

    Essential

    • Displaying supportive and sensitive communication to patients, carers, and staff
    • Delegating while retaining overall responsibility for patient care when necessary
    • Showing capability to lead a clinical team
    • Highly motivated and capable of engaging with service users and carers to enhance outcomes
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
    • Understanding of safeguarding issues and supporting colleagues through the appropriate processes
