    Job Title: Clinical Nurse Specialist at Addiction Recovery Community Hounslow (ARC)

    The Addiction Recovery Community (ARC) in Hounslow is dedicated to helping individuals break free from addiction to substances like heroin, club drugs, stimulants, or alcohol. It brings together various services to offer comprehensive support to service users.

    The successful candidate for the role will be working closely with patients or service users. As part of the NHS Trust, we highly advocate for and facilitate vaccinations to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone in our healthcare settings.

    Main Responsibilities:

    • Contribute to the management and treatment of individuals with substance use issues, including harm reduction, motivational interviewing, care planning, and education programs.
    • Assess the holistic needs of clients, develop care plans, and evaluate treatment outcomes.
    • Work with clients who inject drugs, implementing harm reduction strategies.
    • Use established monitoring tools and quality measures to track progress.
    • Provide clinical advice, drug administration, and risk management.
    • Offer education, promote vaccination, and collaborate with relevant healthcare teams.
    • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, attend training sessions, and uphold clinical governance.
    • Participate in safeguarding practices and advocate for clients' well-being.

    Person Specification:

    Education and Qualifications

    Essential

    • Registered Mental Health nurse

    Desirable

    • Mentorship qualification

    Experience

    Essential

    • Experience managing a community caseload and working with addictions
    • Experience with dual diagnosis and mental health care planning

    Desirable

    • Experience in 'chemsex' and working with injecting drug users
    • Experience in providing counseling interventions

    Skills and Knowledge

    Essential

    • Understanding of substance misuse treatment models
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Knowledge of safeguarding principles
    • Ability to work independently and within a team
    • Motivational Interviewing and Relapse Management skills
    • Culturally sensitive and respectful towards service users
    • IT proficiency

    Desirable

    • Knowledge of prescribing in a drug service
    • Attitudes and Personal Characteristics

      Essential

      • Non-judgemental and committed to team collaboration
      • Comfortable discussing sensitive topics with clients
