PRIVATE MEDICAL SECRETARY


Are you interested in working with a forward thinking, innovative private healthcare team with an exceptional team of consultants and Private GPs.


The role of Medical Secretary is to provide secretarial support to the Practice Manager, GP's, Consultants and other members of the Healthcare team.

The post holder will provide a high standard of communication in contact with patients and all members of the Primary Health Care Team.

Specific and general duties/tasks are described overleaf. This list is not comprehensive, but intended as a guide to the work expected of the post holder. The usual place of work will be Midland Health, Edgbaston.

All working conditions are supplied in the Midland Health Staff Handbook. The post holder will be expected to adhere to the Health and Safety regulations of the Practice. The post holder must be aware of the Practice requirement for confidentiality at all times.


Responsibilities:


  • To provide an efficient audio, copy typing and word processing service for GPs and Health Professionals as required. This includes the typing of letters, reports, patient referrals, minutes, memorandums etc in an accurate and quality manner.
  • Use of the clinical system, Semble, where appropriate; to assist in referral of patients to one or more clinicians within Midland Health, or assisting with onward referrals to other Private Healthcare institutions, this includes sending out relevant documentation to the patient.
  • To assist the Practice Manager with clerical and administrative duties.
  • To make appointments and bookings as required.
  • To liaise with Midland Health GPs and Consultants to confirm their clinical availability (including the booking of their rooms).
  • File patient records and correspondence in patient medical records.
  • To receive incoming and initiate outgoing telephone calls in order to deal with appropriate queries.
  • To provide cover for members of the secretarial team during periods of sickness and annual leave.
  • To receive and dispatch mail and maintain a pending system.
  • To check any consultant letters and GP consultation plans
  • To chase up results from radiology providers and laboratories for patients seen in clinic if required.


In the performance of the duties outlined in this Job Description, the post-holder may have access to confidential information relating to patients and their carers, Practice staff and other healthcare workers.

They may also have access to information relating to the Practice as a business organisation. All such information from any source is to be regarded as strictly confidential.

Essential Skills

  • Audio typing
  • Experience of health care work including medical secretary
  • Private Healthcare experience desirable but not essential
  • Ability to communicate with patients
  • Great IT skills
  • Organised and task driven.

Position :
Full-time (Mon - Fri) - hours flexible and may consider some working from home.


Salary:
£27,500.00-£30,000.00 per year
