    Principal Clinical/Counselling psychologist in Physical Health
    Due to additional funding, the Greenwich and Bexley Community Long-term conditions Teams are expanding their Psychology provision.
    A significant proportion of the work will be with the Diabetes teams.

    This 8b Clinical/ Counselling Psychology post in Long-term conditions is a varied post and an exciting opportunity to work in a community-based setting in the boroughs of Greenwich and Bexley.

    Goldie Leigh Hospital is the main base but work at various clinics around the borough is part of the role.

    The postholder(s) will be joining a dynamic and friendly network of psychologists in physical health in the Adult Community Physical Health Services Directorate.

    There are regular opportunities for CPD, networking and coming together with other psychologists working in physical health for collegiate support.

    The psychologists in Physical health meet on a regular basis so postholders will have exposure to other physical health specialities as well as gaining insight into psychological ways of working within other specialities.

    To set up and ensure the delivery of the systematic provision of a high quality and specialist psychological therapy service to service users of the Greenwich and Bexley Community Long term conditions service, specifically Diabetes.

    To offer training, supervision, consultation, advice, and guidance on the provision of psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and other clinical members of the team, and to other non-professional carers and a range of professional bodies.

    To offer training, supervision, consultation, advice, and guidance to other psychology colleagues in the long term conditions team, specifically (but not limited to) the Diabetes psychology posts in Greenwich and Bexley, and elsewhere as appropriate across the Directorate and Trust.

    To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service.

    To contribute to the development of the service including the routine collection of outcome data as required by the service.

    It will be a requirement of this role to participate in job planning which forms a key part of the working practices of qualified psychological therapists.

    Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical or counselling psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology
    Post-doctoral training in relevant specialist areas of Clinical Psychology.
    Registration with the Health & Care Professions Council as a Practitioner Psychologist.
    Recognised supervision training
    Leadership or management training

    BPS Accredited Clinical/Counselling Psychology Training including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.

    Extensive highly specialised knowledge and expertise in providing psychological assessment and rehabilitation to clients with a physical health condition
    Experience of the application of psychology in different cultural contexts
    Experience of representing psychological therapy within the context of multi-disciplinary care
    Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care and treatment

    Experience of working as a psychologist with people with Diabetes

    Knowledge of the theory and practice of highly specialised psychological therapies and assessment methodologies
    Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS
