    This post involves regular, direct unsupervised access to vulnerable adults and therefore is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974

    East Lancs Hospice

    East Lancashire Hospice is a registered charity, founded in 1984. We support and care for patients with a life limiting illness, their families and others close to them. We provide this in a number of ways; at the hospice and in people's own homes across our community of Blackburn, Darwen, Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley.

    With approximately 120 employees and over 250 volunteers, our people are our biggest asset whom we value tremendously. Our services to the local community would not be possible without our motivated and caring workforce who always strive to deliver excellence in all that they do. The hospice is a unique and special place, kindness and compassion are qualities that run throughout the hospice and our people truly believe in what we do.

    Head of Support & Wellbeing Therapies

    As part of service review and the increasing emphasis on provision of hospice care in our community, we have an exciting new opportunity for a forward-thinking individual, passionate about the development of excellence in palliative and end of life care and with well-developed post-registration clinical experience to have overall responsibility for the leadership and management of our Support & Wellbeing Therapies incorporating Creative and Support Therapies (CaST) Complementary Therapy, Family Support (Counselling and Bereavement Support) and Befriending Volunteers

    You will be responsible for:

    • the provision of safe, responsive, excellent patient support and wellbeing interventions that recognise and reflect people's rights to choice, independence and self-determination
    • Achieving excellence by supporting the team to be the best they can be, working to current best practice and processes but always striving for excellence through continuous professional and personal development.
    • Leading the delivery of individualised interventions ensuring all support and wellbeing provision remains focused on enabling people to attain the goals they set themselves, plan ahead, celebrate achievement and make the most of life, hospice services and those within our wider community

    The Successful Candidate

    The ideal candidate will have recent experience working in the field of Palliative and End of Life Care for people with a wide range of life limiting illness/complexity in addition to:

    • An active professional qualification relevant to the fields
    • Well-developed team leadership / management skills
    • A strong understanding and commitment to the benefits of therapeutic interventions
    • Enthusiasm and drive to develop the service across our communities
