Environmental Play Project Coordinator


35 hours per week to be worked over 5 days, £30,000 per annum
Tuesday to Saturday - Term Time | Monday to Friday

We are looking for an exceptional, creative and passionate Environmental Play Project Coordinator to work for a fantastic charity offering fun and inclusive play opportunities for disabled and non-disabled children.

You will be based in Stockwell, SW8 2PD but may be required to work at other sites if needed.


OVERALL JOB PURPOSE

  • To deliver Environmental Play activity sessions at Oasis Adventure Playground
  • To engage local schools in Environmental Education and Forest School activities at the Adventure Playground.
  • To review and update the organisation's Environmental Policy and procedures in collaboration with other key stakeholders.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
External

Represent Oasisplay to the public, external stakeholders and interested parties as required.

  • Development
  • To develop a model for delivering Environmental play activities at Oasis Adventure Playground; To develop a model for Environmental Education opportunities at Oasis Adventure Playground.


  • Facilities

  • Support the maintenance of facilities.


  • Staff

  • Consult and work with the Play Project Manager at Oasis Adventure Playground to develop the new activities; Support play workers to engage in environmental play activities and develop skills and knowledge relating to the natural world and environmental issues.; To work closely with the gardener and other site development workers to help improve the site for wildlife.
  • Offsite trips and visits for children and young people
  • Ensure these are thoroughly planned and efficiently and safely run.


  • Users

  • Develop, organise and deliver a range of environmental play activities at Oasis Adventure Playground; Develop, organise and deliver a range of environmental Education activities for school groups at Oasis Adventure Playground.
  • Policies and Code of Practice
  • Maintain and disseminate Oasis's agreed policies and Code of Practice, and propose any changes to these to the Director.
  • Administration and financial control
  • Ensure that the general administration and financial control of the Environmental Play Project; Record, track and report on Environmental Play activities each month; Provide the Management Committee with regular reports in the agreed for; With other senior staff, plan and manage special events both at the projects and off site.


  • Fundraising

  • Contribute towards fundraising activity when necessary and lead on initiatives that support inclusive play services at Oasis.

Person Specification:

Significant experience of developing and leading inclusive play based projects in informal outdoor settings. ( ESSENTIAL)


An ability to communicate effectively with children and young people from different backgrounds, who have different experiences, interests and abilities.

( ESSENTIAL)

An understanding and ability to deliver inclusive National Curriculum linked environmental education activities. ( ESSENTIAL)

The capacity to work collaboratively with the Community Play Project manager at Oasis Adventure Playground. ( ESSENTIAL)


Ability to manage the administration, IT, HR, health and safety related to the project and undertake direct work with disabled children and young people.

( ESSENTIAL)

Effective presentation skills, both verbal and written. ( ESSENTIAL)

Willingness to work unsocial hours when the need arises. ( ESSENTIAL)

Full driving licence. (DESIRABLE)
