- Manage monthly management accounts for all departments pertaining to football operations through the production of P&Ls, variance analysis, and presentation of results to heads of budgets with relevant narratives.
- Reconciliation of balance sheet control accounts (intangible player assets, deferred income, accruals, prepayments).
- Taking an active lead in the annual budget process of all football operation departments.
- Producing monthly forecasts, including projection of player salaries, and undertaking analysis against the original budget.
- Being a key business partner for all heads of departments within football operations.
- Challenging business processes and spending requests from heads of departments.
- Overseeing the development of the Trainee Accountant and assisting them with processing purchase invoices, preparation of payment runs, purchase orders, credit card reconciliations and expenses.
- Preparation of P11Ds.
- Responding to ad-hoc information requests from heads of departments of football operations.
- Prepare information for external auditors as part of the year-end audit.
- At least 5 years' experience of working within industry for an SME
- Preparation of management accounts

- AAT Level 4, finance related degree or appropriate qualification by experience
- Qualified accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA)

Derby County Football Club are seeking to recruit an experienced Management Accountant to join its Finance team at Pride Park Stadium.
The role encompasses core management accounting duties, business partnering, and financial reporting across the Club. The successful candidate will report on KPIs across the Club's commercial departments and suggest drivers for improvements to the Head of Finance and the wider Club.
The successful candidate will have a keen eye for detail, excellent Excel skills, and analytical skills. Experience in planning, budgeting, and forecasting, paired with excellent communication skills, is essential. This will allow the candidate to work effectively with department leads to explain variances against budget/forecast in a way that conveys key financial information.
