    Are you looking for an exciting career in Theatres Scrub Practitioner? Have you got a passion for Elective Orthopaedic Surgery? If so, this is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic and established team at Orpington Hospital, part of King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

    We are looking to employ a Band 5 Scrub Nurse or ODP to join our busy unit in Elective Orpington Theatres. We operate Monday - Saturday between the hours - 8:00pm

    The primary role of this post is focused on the scrub / circulatory role of the theatre practitioner in supporting the perioperative team during elective orthopaedic surgery.

    In addition, the registered nurse will be responsible for ensuring all relevant equipment, prosthesis and loans sets necessary for the surgical procedure are at hand. Assist with surgical positioning and assist the registered nurse with the various roles involved when circulating for different surgical procedures.

    The King's Elective Orthopaedic Unit in Orpington is part of King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and provides comprehensive health care services for a diverse community. The unit consists of four state-of-the art operating theatres, orthopaedic wards, and an admission lounge. It has been refurbished to a high standard, has excellent facilities for patients and staff, and is a short hop by train into London with all its attractions.

    Please note, experience working in orthopaedic theatres is desirable.

    Main duties of the job

    Job Summary:

  • To work within both the nursing and multi disciplinary team to provide evidence based, holistic care to a group of patients from admission to discharge in department.
  • To take responsibility for managing and co-ordinating an assigned area of the department in the absence of more senior staff.
  • To participate in the teaching and supervision of junior staff and student learners as required.
  • To be a safe and effective practitioner able to provide patients and relatives with high quality peri-operative care.
  • Particular emphasis is put at Kings on the need to ensure that all staff recognise their responsibility to deliver services in a high quality, courteous, patient focused manner maintaining patient confidentiality at all time.
  • You are required to have excellent communication skills and communicate effectively with the MDT, matrons, and floor coordinators, be a team player, be empathetic, and be able to remain calm and steady under pressure.
  • You will participate and be a role model in the Perioperative care of patients who is undergoing orthopaedic surgery.
