You will


Working closely with our Tech Leads and Product Managers you will be completing UX design activities across the software development lifecycle.

This includes leading the creative thinking of how we design the best experience for our users and shaping our overall design strategy.


Key responsibilities:

  • Complete research, using available data, to understand user journeys and inform feature requirements
  • Prioritise and plan a design requirement backlog and lay out timelines/process for feature design
  • Combine UX thinking with execution and design mockups for new or enhanced features
  • Enable development by codifying and maintaining the visual language for engineers to follow
  • Review and test development against interaction and visual design specifications
  • Partner with Product Manager to monitor feedback for recently release features
  • Lead the creation and promotion of design guidelines and standards across the product

About you

  • A natural problem solver who enjoys understanding complex user journeys and creating visual solutions from design concept through to a live platform
  • Able to see the big picture and collaborate across a wide team
  • Enjoy working within an ambiguous environment where we don't have established ways of working
  • Strong design documentation skills e.g. wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows and site maps
  • Able to flex between quick and scrappy lofi and polished hifi depending on the situation
  • Competent working with UX software tools (e.g. Sketch, Figma, OmniGraffle, Axure, InVision, UXPin, Balsamiq, Framer)
  • Wellversed in Design Thinking and Practice theory
  • Experienced with complex enterprise software and able to quickly grasp new concepts
  • Knowledge of Digital Accessibility best practices and tooling
  • An excellent and supportive communicator, able to consider the broader impact of your design
  • Motivated by learning new things and using those to make a positive difference
  • Great at asking awkward questions, kindly

Working Details
This is a full-time role (37.5 hours per week).

We typically work from 09:00 - 17:30 from Monday to Friday, though we can be flexible around this, just let us know.

Our office is in Edinburgh City Centre.

We're looking for somebody who could work on a hybrid basis, with time in the office likely to be a minimum of 2-4 times a month (to facilitate in-person whiteboard sessions etc).
