    Default job background
    Description

We are looking for Theatre Practitioners - both Nurses (adult or paediatric) and ODPs to join our welcoming and dynamic Theatre Scrub Team.

We have positions available for different specialties. We are now looking for Scrub Practitioners that wish to step up to the next level in their career and have an interest working with children whilst undergoing their surgery.

Previous experience within paediatric surgery is desirable but not essential as you will be given training and support by the perioperative team to develop new skills to equip you in the paediatric setting.

As a department we have an expert Practice Education team who support our peri-operative team to help teach, develop, and strengthen these skills in order to support your ongoing professional development.

Great Ormond Street Hospital is an internationally renowned hospital for children at the cutting edge of paediatric surgical advances through research and innovation, close to all central London amenities. We consider all flexible working requests and offer lots of staff benefits.

We have 19 operating theatres and cater for a number of specialities including Cardiac, Neuro, Orthopaedic, Spinal, Craniofacial, General Surgery, Plastics, ENT, Urology, Renal, Maxillofacial and Ophthalmology.

    • To be a clinical expert within the specialty.
    • To ensure the provision of excellent, evidence-based nursing care for the children, young people and their families at all times.

    • Ensure the provision of appropriate supervision and support to members of the ward team.
    • Support the provision of effective communication between all members of the multidisciplinary team, other hospital departments, relatives and visitors..

    • Participate in the process of recruitment and retention of staff.
    • Promote and support the improving working lives philosophy, and initiatives.
    • To contribute to the appraisal process, and if required disciplinary activities.
    • To actively assist in the education and practical training of learners, junior staff and multidisciplinary team members at every opportunity, through formal and informal teaching.
    • Ensure the provision of and access to appropriate mentors for student nurses and provide a supportive and challenging environment for students in training.
    • Participate in the audit of the clinical learning environment.
