Are you an aspiring nurse leader who is ready to take the next challenge in your career as a Ward Manager on a busy Emergency Surgical Ward? Can you work collaboratively with a great nursing team and provide strong clinical leadership acting as a role model to a diverse nursing team? Do you love a challenge?
We are seeking a highly motivated, compassionate, and experienced Nurse to lead and develop our Emergency Surgical Ward, focusing on the provision of high-quality care to our patients. The ability to demonstrate dynamic leadership combined with excellent patient care and a drive for quality improvement is vital for this role.

Ward 23 specialises in care of Trauma and Orthopaedic, ENT and Spinal Injury patients. Given the Ward's substantial size, you will be working closely with a deputy ward manager to collaborate and oversee ward management.
We will support you on your leadership journey and provide opportunities to professionally develop your skills and knowledge to be successful in this role.

Main duties of the job
To act asthe professional role model, leading and co-ordinating the nursing team. To have continuous responsibility for the management and organisation of the ward/department within the available resources. To be accountable for the overall provision of excellent nursing care and to work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team.
To assess the effectiveness of current practices within the ward/department and introduce innovations that lead to improved quality of care.
To maintain the highest standards of patient care at all times, ensuring that quality and compassion are your top priorities.
To develop the Ward philosophy of nursing and its contribution to the Trust's and division's nursing philosophy of care, ensuring that all policies and procedures are implemented and to lead on the development of nursing practice.
To continually review the setting of staffing levels/skill mix in accordance with the changing needs of the service and informing the Senior Nurse of any problems that may arise.
Maintain personal contact with patients, relatives and carers being courteous and sensitive to their needs for privacy and dignity and act as an effective role model ensuring a friendly environment at all times

The surgery division at MKUH, which covers specialties including theatres and the Intensive Care Unit, offers a variety of roles and opportunities, both clinical and non-clinical. The division are looking for passionate, enthusiastic and forward-thinking professionals to join the team.
