Jackson Hogg Supply Chain division are exclusively partnering with our well-valued client, a global manufacturing business in Stockton-on-Tees, on the appointment of a Commercial Buyer to join their Direct Materials purchasing team.

This is a full time and permanent role offering a competitive salary, hybrid working pattern, flexible working hours, paid CIPS study, 27 days holiday plus bank hols and a fantastic pension scheme


The Commercial Buyer leads the sourcing activity for Raw Materials for their assigned categories across all EAME sites and are the key contact person for their allocated site(s).

You will provide category and market knowledge, procurement expertise and understand the sites' requirements.


The focus will be to deliver cost reduction and cost avoidance, contribute to increasing cash flow and secure supply of raw materials to the sites.


The Role:


  • Purchasing Spend Managed: ca. 1525m Euro, depending on allocated categories
  • Delegation of Authority (DOA) for purchase orders
  • Develop purchasing strategy for allocated categories based on solid knowledge of the markets (suppliers, trends, benchmarks, TCO); source new suppliers and materials; identify and select the best partners; lead implementation in cooperation with sites; manage supplier relationships by using and developing KPI's
  • Tender, negotiate and implement price agreements and contracts; cooperate with legal department on contract reviews if and when required and process contracts in contracts database.
  • Cooperate with other Buyers to develop and ensure Best Practice in Purchasing.
  • Provide Operational Purchasing with information to raise orders and outline agreements and maintain purchasing data in the system.
  • Ensure accuracy of master data.

The Person/Specification:


  • At least 3 to 5 years of experience in Purchasing or a commercial environment (e.g. Supply Chain or related function).
  • Good working knowledge of Italian and / or Spanish and/or German are advantageous but not essential
  • Team player with strong communication skills and a result driven attitude
  • Strong initative
