Commercial vehicles such as Taxis use GPS technology for their Taxi Meters to calculate how much distance has been travelled, these Meters have high tolerances and rely on external signals. My job role was to develop an alternative system which uses sensors such as Gyroscopes and Accelerometers to calculate distance travelled, in turn eliminating the need for GPS.
