● Translate and main point of liaison for nursing informatics, nursing and midwifery management and Informatics professionals. Owning the strategic vision for how technology will enhance nursing and midwifery practices, clinical quality, and patient safety, the CNIO leads the nursing informatics work on the selection, development, and deployment of solutions to ensure the smooth integration of technology into nursing clinical workflows.

● As a CAHIO, I act as the voice for nursing and allied health professionals in the strategic direction on the design, implementation and use of digital solutions to ensure the delivery of high quality healthcare services.
● Provide strategic level advice and guidance, working collaboratively with key stakeholders to ensure the appropriate and successful use of integrated knowledge and information systems.

● Develop, lead and manage the delivery of projects within the Nursing and Midwifery Strategy, Operational Plan and Transformation Programme, which will primarily focus on ensuring that wards and departments work to maximum efficiency for the benefit of both staff and patients. In transforming care delivery systems the postholder must ensure that the changes do not have an adverse impact on patient care and quality.
● To deputise for the Director of Transformation as required.
● To support the Director of Nursing and Quality and Director of Finance and Programme Boards in the identification and management of inter project and Programme dependencies with escalation to the Programme Lead and Executive sponsor as appropriate.
● Identify and plan the scope and resource requirements of new projects required to deliver the Transformational change in clinical practice areas. Examples of such programmes are the implementation of the ‘Productive Series’, and a supportive review of documentation and its impact on patient care and staff efficiency. This will be further explored by the wider healthcare team as the programme of work develops
● Work with the Nursing Executive and Practice Development nurses to ensure that the Programme of projects has an acceptable balance of risk, benefit, and pace and supports stakeholder priorities.

Programme Assurance
Be responsible for ensuring appropriate and consistent process development and implementation in regard to the leadership and management of milestone delivery, interdependency management, project risks, mitigations, issues, change and configuration management within the Programmes.
Ensure every project has a robust project plan with clear roles, responsibilities accountabilities and timescales for delivery. Ensure each plan has an Executive Sponsor, Project Lead, and Clinical Lead(if appropriate); clear agreed objectives; risk management and benefits realisation metrics against which delivery can be monitored.
Developing and providing key operational management data and programme reports, for review and use by the necessary Programme Board.
Overall lead responsibility for programme assurance within their Programme (for clarity this excludes any business assurance function including business case management, procurement and HR).
Lead and manage the development of Programme and project assurance processes, governance and standards
Effective management of risks and issues including clearly defined escalation routes.
To ensure an effective change control and decision process across projects providing effective and auditable logs.
To lead an effective and appropriate usage of relevant project tools and techniques across the Programme.
Where appropriate conduct/lead internal Gateway Reviews which will involve the analysis, interpretation and judgement of highly complex information.
Ensure adequate project assurance preparation in relation to pending Gateway reviews and similar audits.
To promote the wider understanding of project governance and assurance issues within the Programme and to provide training for project staff through effective communications.
To develop and use appropriate Information and Technology systems to enhance performance management both within the programme of work and day to day Operational functions.
