International Citizenship Service / Voluntary Service Overseas | Facilitator and Events coordinator

TAITA TAVETA, KENYA, August 2019–March 2020

I participated in a 12-week cross-cultural youth volunteering programme, where I from the UK travelled to a developing country to live and work alongside national volunteers with various community organisations such as the Red Cross. Working collaboratively within a team of volunteers, my role was to:

  • Work alongside youth groups ages 18-35, improving their business planning and organisation.
  • Taught and facilitated vocational skills such as CV writing while working collaboratively, providing support and guidance.
  • Learned and adapted quickly to new technology and software applications and paid attention to detail while completing assignments, completing paperwork, recognising discrepancies, and promptly addressing them for resolution.
  • Organised a campaign which reached over 400 people about clean water and preservation.

Carmel Media | Audio and Visual Technician

I worked alongside sound engineers and video editors in formal events. I was required to manage overhead projections and video. My role was to:

  • Programmed and operated audio-visual equipment to support seamless live events.
  • Liaised and worked closely with the audio and visual manager to meet the audio-visual equipment objectives
  • Tested and repaired systems using a variety of instruments while video monitoring and scheduling and implementing time management.
  • Set up and operate video and audio equipment. I edited and presented sound and visual images.
