About Charity Elsie Yaa Akoto:

I am a young lady passionate about spatial planning with a long term goal of using my spatial planning experience to teach young people passionate about sustainable development. Majority of my work experience has been in town planning as a spatial planning intern and projects I handled in my postgraduate degree as well. I seek career opportunities to begin my planning career in the UK in order to aid in the creation of resilient communities.

Work Experience 

  1. Admissions Officer – Navitas UK 04/2022- To date 
  • Responsible for handling student applications in line with defined service level agreements 
  • Responsible for assessing student applications accurately and in accordance with the latest admissions requirements. 
  • Held and ensured student interviews are carried out, recorded and communicated accurately

2. Teaching and Research Assistant - Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana.

  • Responsible for handling research work on the behalf of my immediate supervisor 
  •  Assisted with course work material delivery for students 
  • Held fundamental geospatial analysis software tutorial sessions on digitization to undergraduates 
  • Provided additional student services by identifying appropriate material necessary for their coursework. 

3. Spatial Planning Intern - Ningo-Prampram District Assembly, Ghana. 

  • Assisted with the digitization of district's map 
  •  Attended Statutory Planning Committee Meetings 
  • Conducted site visits to proposed areas in need of development permits 
  • Typed documents such as reports, memos and emails for the Planning Officer
