About Colm Teague:

Hi! My name is Colm, I am a recent graduate who has just relocated to Belfast. I am currently operating as a freelancer, working with local charites and musicians, specialising in producing content which reflects the DNA of the business/individual.

I am a motivated young individual keen to apply myself to a new and fulfilling role which will allow me to develop my skills, learn new ones, and to reach my full potential. I am a creative thinking individual with lots of customer service experience, as well as being practical and I am quite good with organising the logistics of a project.

Experience

Sales Assistant (Mountain Warehouse, Omagh) — Apr ’22 – June ‘23

This role introduced me to the world of retail and how a company organises their individual branches on a daily basis, and how each individual employee plays a role to drive sales and provide a unique customer experience based on the image of the business. As well as this, I have developed an extreme attention to detail, ensuring each item is displayed at the required standard to provide customers with a satisfying experience. On top of this, I always treat each customer with their own experience by having some back-and-forth banter and ensuring that they find the product that is suited for their own outdoor endeavours, from walking to skiing.

Skills I Obtained/Developed: Communication, personalised consumer experience, industry standard attention to detail, active listening, engaging with customers, operating outdoor equipment.

Bar Assistant (Fullerton Arms, Ballintoy) — Feb ’21 - Apr ‘22 This role was based in a highly rated hotel, which is a prominent tourist attraction in the North Coast, being one of the venues with a Game of Thrones door. Here, I communicated with tourists from all over the world, who arrived daily by the busload, serving drinks in an efficient manner to ensure their bus route schedule was maintained. As well as this, the residents who stayed amongst the 14 rooms on site at the hotel were treated with a high standard, with a warm and welcoming experience throughout their stay.

Skills I Obtained/Developed: Attention to detail and personalised customer experience, communication with external parties (tourist companies), teamwork, communication, problem solving, ensuring brand standards were maintained, having local knowledge and communicating with international community.

Bar Assistant (Compass Group, Coleraine) — Sept 21’ – Feb 22’

This was quite a new role for me, and I utilised my adaptability and problem-solving skills to embrace this new role as a Bar Assistant. As well as making drinks, I served customers in a positive and professional manner and maintained health and safety standards on the job. Being part of the student culture on campus and contributing to the vibrant atmosphere was an experience I cherish and bring forward with me in each new role I undertake.

Skills I Obtained/Developed: Working at a quick pace, making drinks, teamwork, communication, active listening, the ability to accept criticism and work well under pressure.

Development Research Assistant (Big Mountain Productions) — Summer Placement Mar ’20 August '20 This was initially a two-week work placement, which further evolved into Summer employment. Here, I worked with industry professionals to assist them in: developing stories and ideas; conducting extensive research; worked up treatments/one-sheets; organising location recces; contacting potential contributors.

Skills Obtained/Developed: Speaking to the public (potential contributors) in both informal and formal scenarios; bounce ideas off other team members; taking initiative; verbal and written communication; independent thinking.

Crew Member (McDonald’s, Omagh) — Nov ’18 - Aug '21 As a Crew Member of McDonald’s, I was required to deal with highly stressful situations in a positive and productive manner. I was fully trained to work in the front of the store. This required me to greet customers both at the front checkout station and the drive-thru. As well as this, it was important that I performed every task precisely and quickly, all while maintaining open communication between myself and my team members. This allowed for our orders to be processed and prepared in a timely manner to ensure customer satisfaction.

Skills Obtained/Developed: Excellent customer service, time management, teamwork. Also provided an insight to management and business.
