About Daniel Jervis:

Graduate looking to further development my management skills and drive for local development of the community and in young peoples. I am an ambitious worker with strong; maths, analysing and presentation skills as proven in other jobs related to events management. Great communicator both face to face and by other means as proven over the COVID-19 Pandemic. I would describe myself as a strong adaptable team player actively seeking challenges to overcome in my daily tasks. I have been part of a fostering household for 20 years and have helped over 30 foster children found a forever home.

Experience

January 2023 – Present: Prison Officer HMP Ranby Coming into this role and the 7 weeks residential training I am a fully qualified Prison Officer undertaking roles relating to prisoner life meeting many people from all walks of life with the main aim of reforming them into upstanding members of society. Supporting the vulnerable and mentally impaired within the prison system is a role I have taken very seriously and am developing new groups in order to support those in need. July 2022- August 2022: Team Leader NCS Club Doncaster Foundation Coming back to this role after 2 waves I did on NCS in 2018, it was amazing to see how far CDF has come. Again, working alongside an Assistant Team Leader with a group of 16 young persons aged between 15-17 on a week residential in Kingswood Colomendy in which physical activities and new skills are learnt and a Social Action week is planned. During the second week of the programme the Social Action that was planned on the residential comes to fruition and the YP’s show independence by making their own way to the location and improving the community in various different ways. The job role is to be a mentor and guide to these young persons throughout the 2 week waves, I found that my coaching abilities help a lot here as public speaking in front of 100+ YP’s is a must in this role May 2021- Ongoing: Causal Community Coach Yorkshire Cricket Board This job role is not a full-time position; however, I work as a causal coach travelling throughout Yorkshire attending cricket festivals and events in S.E.N and mainstream schools. This can vary from junior kwik cricket both indoor and outdoor to those more challenging games where I am required to adapt my teaching methods to meet pupils’ abilities and needs. Before an event takes place, I look at those barriers I might face so I can facilitate the most appropriate support, enabling a smooth-running event. As I have a lead role in the organisation of these events gathering feedback from each school can help with the development of future programmes. October 2021-January 2022: Christmas Causal Mail Sorter Royal Mail Royal mail provided me with the opportunity to further develop my time management skills as we had to work to strict deadlines. It also allowed me to work as part of a team while building lasting relationships with the staff. Communication with everyone in the department was vital in order for the shift to run smoothly and effectively. July 2021- September: Business Development Representative QBS Software QBS provides a comprehensive range of products produced by a wide spectrum of software publishers, with the QBS: Alpha Gen division at Retford focusing on IT security solutions and software asset management. My role was to seek customers that would like to sell this software and place them in contact with the vendor to secure an account with the client. - Pitch IT cyber security solutions to contacts at all levels of business without a script while proactively working towards monthly targets September 2020 – July 2021: Residential Graduate Assistant Ranby House School Being an independent private school in Nottinghamshire the schools cater for children aged between 3-11 years old. My role was primarily to be a P.E teaching assistant however, I have planned and ran my own sessions in multiple areas of sports coaching including; rugby, hockey, cricket & athletics. I was also a key member of the boarding team planning activities and being on call whilst on site. • Planned and executed events to 30-40 children on higher attended boarding nights. Be a main point of contact for the children as they are all my responsibility. • Planned and executed lessons for children of all primary school ages • Be a first aid qualified member of staff at away matches June 2019 – June 2020: President Harper Adams Students’ Union – Elected Paid Sabbatical Position Being elected to a position of power whilst also being Chair of Trustees for the Students’ Union and on the board of governors of the University itself in my final year of university. Representing students’ views and opinions to appropriate representative boards in the university. - Sourced acts, food, drinks, and equipment to be used in the bar from external companies creating key links that have been maintained after leaving. - Promoted innovative student events across the university which required strong communicative attributes to maintain current relationships while developing new sponsors in aid of holding these student union events. - Using CRM systems to effectively maintain contact with ticket holders to communicate continuous updates on the schedule of the event using current GDPR regulations. The larger events had average foot flow of 1750 people. - Speaking publicly in a professional manner to deliver presentations to prospective students and parents while answering all their questions - Managing a team of 20 SU executives as a focus group to understand the students’ requirements and desires from a university, while communication implementing change across all departments. - Liase with the local community and uphold the image of the students union across the Telford area
