I am a highly motivated individual with strong interest in neurodegeneration and neuronal loss and have strong lab experience using biochemical and cellular tools. I have strong teamwork skills, currently employed as an ambulance care assistant with EMED Group, working collaboratively with the NHS. I have excellent communication skills, enhanced through one-on-one time with patients with a vast range of needs and care. My planning and organisational skills have been perfected through my role in patient transport where strict timekeeping ability is vital to ensure a smooth operation for patients, hospital staff, and co-workers.
Experience
I am currently working as an Ambulance Care Assistant (ACA) in collaboration with the NHS. This role includes pro-actively improving the wellbeing of local communities by providing access to vital health and social care across Surrey. My responsibilities include organising complex patient travel and strict time keeping ensuring hospital appointments are met; providing patient-centred care during travel; and strong communication and planning skills to orchestrate handovers to a wide variety of care teams and hospital staff. I am fully first aid trained and I can act professionally, swiftly, and carefully under pressure. I have experience working with patients of all ages and complex neurological needs, including dementia and Parkinson’s disease. My success in the role has been facilitated by my caring and patient empathetic nature. I have improved my flexibility and adaptability to work around new shift patterns and have remained reliable, resilient, and committed when presented with a high workload. My communication and listening skills have been fully developed and I use calm and concise tone and language with all patients, using extra attentiveness for those with poor hearing and comprehension. Working at EMED is a fulfilling role that provides me with a sense of purpose and has made me more confident overall in my work and personal life.
