Experience

A creative, dynamic and accomplished strategic public health leader with extensive experience in effective National, Regional and sub-regional executive leadership, health protection, health improvement and large-scale change. A Public Health Consultant, Doctor in Genetics and Epidemiology with a Fellowship from Cambridge University and Management Consultancy. Unique and diverse portfolio with over 25 years of experience working in academia, the private sector and the public sector. Proactively leading and transforming care through effective collaboration across whole systems, multi-sector organisations and partnerships, underpinned by evidence-based intelligence, better value health and innovative solutions to improve population health outcomes and reduce inequalities. Accomplished to manage outbreaks, lead fast-paced high- profile programmes and response, including HealthCare Associated Infections (incl. COVID-19) to improve patient safety and outcomes. A natural collaborator able to transcend barriers with professionalism and ease. Strong influencing and negotiating skills with ability to responsibly challenge the status quo to create collaborative solutions, implement joint new ways of working in the rapidly evolving UK health and social care landscape.

In the wake of COVID-19 pandemic, I undertook several roles to support NHS in National leadership role in the Contact Tracing Cell for Public Health England). I worked  with leaders including Susan Hopkins, Ruth Milton, Meng Khawon & Jenny Harries to develop strategic approach to COVID-19 incident response. Providing leadership and support as Deputy Director and Public Health Consultant level to Local government . These roles required strategic oversight, outbreak management  coupled with local insights, effective collaboration with communities, stakeholders, partners, (public and private sector) at all levels and working in a matrix environment with political scrutiny at the highest level of government.

I have Successfully led fast-paced, high profile whole systems transformational programmes working with national ministers and government , and  across multi- sector organisations to improve pathways of care, patient safety, infection control in England and Wales. This resulted in the most statistically significant reduction in prevalence of HCAI in England within one year. The resounding success led me to work with, and advise Welsh Government, Public Health Wales and Chief Medical Officer during HCAI (C. diff.) crisis.
