    Job summary

    The post is a one-year fixed term contract. It will be based at the Great Western Hospital Swindon (GWH) This is an exciting and unique opportunity for a trainee with an interest in education. The post will be 50% in Department of Older Persons and Post Graduate Medical Education 50%. The post will also include the opportunity to be involved in the exciting field of simulation and supporting international medical graduates

    This post would typically suit a ST1 - ST4 level doctor at start of appointment, such as those wishing to undertake further training in medical education as part of an Out of Programme Experience (OOPE) from their Specialist training programme

    The post is a one-year fixed term contract. It will be based at the Great Western Hospital Swindon (GWH)This is an exciting and unique opportunity for a trainee with an interest in education. The post will be 50% inDepartment of Older Persons and 50% Post Graduate Medical Education. The post will also include theopportunity to be involved in the exciting field of post would typically suit a ST1 - ST4 level doctor at the time of appointment, such as those wishing toundertake further training in medical education as part of an Out of Programme Experience (OOPE) fromtheir Specialist training assist the Director Medical Education and relevant clinical specialty in their educational strategy to design,develop, deliver & evaluate Postgraduate training programmes which encompass essential clinical skills,simulation training, quality improvement work and trainee support including International Medical Graduates

    Job responsibilities

    Provision of clinical education for postgraduate clinical trainees including simulation (where relevant) andclinical skills for trainees with a specific role supporting the International Medical Graduate To take part in on-going research projects, or undertake original work under supervision with the aim ofproducing peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national and international meetings in relationto Bedside and classroom teaching of postgraduate Coordination of post graduate trainees teaching Supporting Clinical Skills Teaching and ward based assessment to post graduate Evaluation of teaching in conjunction with the relevant Undertaking any training that is identified as necessary for the candidate to teach 2 of 38. Promote and deliver simulation as an effective educational Provide a source of support, training and specialist advice to IMG trainees as and when Lead on the provision of mentorship to incoming IMG as well as giving informal support to help integrationsocially with their peers / colleagues.

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • GMC Registration with a Licence to Practice
  • Eligible to work at ST1- ST4 at the time of appointment
  • Current and valid visa to allow work in the UK
  • Experience

    Essential

  • Demonstrable previous NHS experience
  • Desirable

  • Demonstrable experience within Department of Older Persons
  • Experience of teaching at undergraduate or postgraduate level.
  • Knowledge

    Essential

  • To have an interest in supporting doctors in training and medical education
  • Recognition of, and ability to undertake the initial management of an acutely ill patient
  • Ability to maximise safety and minimise risk. Ability to apply sound clinical knowledge and judgement to problems
  • Flexible in approach and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities
  • Desirable

  • Ability to design and deliver bedside teaching and simulation.
