    The role

    Thorn is looking for a new Manufacturing Engineer to be responsible for the Engineering disciplines and the achievement of cost out activities within a central or designated area/department.
    The main accountabilities of the role are:
  • Provide hands on support and guidance to non-technical staff.
  • Assisting operations by helping with process design, tooling/test-gear/jigging improvements, re-layout of facilities and method studies on existing products.
  • Lead the disciplines for New Product Developments from concept/design stage through to industrialisation and production.
  • Develop employees and processes to achieve cost effective business strategies by focussing on enhancing business and employee capabilities through training and development.
  • Formulate and deliver projects to improve overall efficiency/OEE and promote Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing.
  • Root cause analysis and countermeasure solutions for customer complaints.
    • Your profile What we are looking for
  • A strong background in Manufacturing Engineering gained from a fast paced, JIT environment.
  • Capable in developing staff both technical and non-technical.
  • A keen eye for improvement areas with the knowledge of how to run cost down initiatives.
  • Good standard of Literacy, Numeracy and Communication skills as well as Presentation and Project Management skills.
  • Strong acumen in IT systems such as MS Office and SAP would be advantageous.
