    Description

    Would you like to work on a top high-performance computing platform in the industry?

    An opportunity is currently open for a skilled Senior HPC Software Engineer to offer computer science support by developing and implementing software solutions.

    Location: Aldermaston, West Berkshire. Conveniently situated between Reading and Basingstoke with ample onsite parking available.

    Package: £52,000+ (based on your suitability, qualifications, and experience level)

    A relocation package might also be an option for this position (subject to terms & conditions).

    Closing Date: 30th May 2024

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide support for migrating specific codes to new platforms
    • Design, code, test, install, and maintain software modules
    • Create appropriate online documentation
    • Collaborate with vendors, universities, and US laboratories on cutting-edge research
    • Conduct research on innovative techniques for solving multi-physics problems
    • Develop benchmarks to evaluate current and future systems
    • Stay informed about advancements in the HPC industry

    Who are we seeking?

    The ideal candidate for the Senior HPC Software Engineer role should possess a PhD or a BSc/MSc in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field, along with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.

    While not an exhaustive list, we are particularly interested in candidates with knowledge or experience in several of the following areas:

    • Proficiency in C, C++, Fortran, or similar programming languages
    • Understanding of computer architectures, especially parallel architectures for scientific calculations
    • Familiarity with parallel programming concepts
    • Knowledge of software development life cycles
    • Interest in processing technologies and their applications
    • Experience with debuggers and performance analysis tools
    • Familiarity with open-source software
    • Unix/Linux environment experience
    • Ability to gather software requirements and implement solutions
    • Experience in software testing
    • Knowledge of scripting languages like bash and python
    • Strong communication skills for technical content
