WHAT TO EXPECTWe are actively in pursuit of an accomplished Lead Engine Problem Solving Engineer, poised to play a pivotal role in advancing our Quality Engineering realm.
This is an exciting opportunity to experience wide range of powertrain components focusing on problem solving for various design, process or quality related issues.
You will be at the forefront of Engine Quality Problem Solving.Your mission? To improve the quality experience of our customers by managing and resolving key quality projects focusing on customer complaints by making use of the JLR IQM 8D management system.
The role demands strong technical problem-solving skills as well as engineering design and development knowledge for hybridised base engine components with good understanding of change management process to address key customer quality projects.
Key Accountabilities and ResponsibilitiesTo manage IQM projects that have a defined problem statement into the root cause, corrective action, implementation and prevent recurrence stepsTo lead and coordinate cross-functional team including purchasing, design, validation, STA, supplier and manufacturing to ensure robust progression of the quality and warranty projectsTo lead the root cause investigation activities using tools such as Is / Is Not, 5 Why, Scope Analysis, statistical quality data analysis and physical engine or vehicle level validation testsTo lead the design direction and decision-making on behalf of Product Development for engine systems to address outstanding design or quality-related customer complaintsTo demonstrate precision, control and integrity in all problem-solving steps and to make all decisions based on evidence-based engineering principles using reliable data onlyTo manage, coordinate and perform validation plans at the root cause and corrective action steps of your projectTo communicate the status and progression of your quality project with a clear and concise message to the senior management teamTo ensure that necessary interim, corrective and prevent recurrence actions are taken not only to address the issue in current production but also in the field by ensuring that the best solution (information, procedure, part etc) is available for JLR service teamWHAT YOU'LL NEEDYou will manage IQM projects that have a defined problem statement into the root cause, corrective action, implementation and prevent recurrence steps.
You will lead and coordinate cross-functional teams including purchasing, design, validation, STA, supplier and manufacturing to ensure robust progression of the quality and warranty projects.
Knowledge, Skills and ExperienceEssential – Technical engineering background with knowledge of Engines EngineeringUnderstanding of design and validation principles on engine systems and componentsAbility to apply problem solving skills such as 8D, 6 Sigma, data analysis, and validation tests within an engine engineering environmentGood understanding of engineering statistics in defining the scope of the customer problem.
