Description

Black Country Living Museum is looking for a pro-active and experienced Assistant Events Delivery Manager to assist with the operational management of event delivery at the Museum, including internal and external venue hires, filming bookings and the Museum'spublic events programme.

BCLM is an equal opportunities employer, and we are particularly keen to hear from applicants from underrepresented groups.

About us

Throughout our 44-year history, Black Country Living Museum's aim has always been clear: Inspiring your discovery of the Black Country.

We ensure that the revolutionary story of the Black Country's industrial landscape - the first ever of its kind in the UK- is celebrated by generations.

With our bostin' seasonal, themed and high profile events, as well as being regularly used for TV and Film locations, BCLM is one of Europe's most successful open-air museums.

We are currently embarking upon our largest development ever, with a multi-million pound investment bringing our story into the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s.

Based in the heart of the Black Country's regeneration zone, we are within good commutable distance from many of the surrounding counties.

About the role

This is an exciting new role at the heart of the Museum's visitor experience, recognising our wide and growing portfolio of large public events, corporate/private hires and on-site productions for TV and Film.

This role, reporting to the Museum's Events Delivery Manager, will support and, in many cases, lead on the planning and execution of the Museum's busy schedule of events, with a constant emphasis on safe delivery and an experience that exceeds expectationsfrom visitors and clients alike.

As Assistant Events Delivery Manager, your key responsibilities include:

  • Working closely with the Museum's Catering arm to develop and routinely deliver profitable hospitality offerings that meet with the needs of clients.
  • Collaborating closely with the Museum's Public Programming team to develop event plans, before taking responsibility for operational execution.
  • Coordinating wider Museum teams to deliver to each event brief, including maintenance, cleaning, admissions, and onsite engagement.
  • Working with external production companies in the planning and management of onsite filming activity.
  • Liaising with 3rd party contractors ensuring safe, legally compliant delivery of services in relation to events.
  • Administrating event feedback from visitors and clients to constantly improve delivery.

Given the busy nature of the Museum's events calendar, there is an expectation that this role will routinely act as an Event Duty Manager, which will include evening and weekend work.

About you

You will have:

  • Demonstrable experience of supporting the operational delivery of a range of events of differing scales from smaller private hire/hospitality events to larger public events.
  • The ability to juggle a complex schedule of priorities.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Firsthand experience of catering and service supervision within a venue hospitality environment.
  • Evidence of working to budgets.

This role is all about liaising with other teams and individuals in order to come together and deliver something as one - you'll need to show that you are confident in developing effective professional relationships and collaborative working.

Ideally you will also have Level 2 Event Planner Certificate or BTEC, or equivalent experience (preferable but not essential).
