    An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Mental Health Team. The ideal candidate will already have demonstrated competence with supporting staff and a commitment to their continued professional development with a post qualifying qualification as a BIA, Practice Educator or AMHP. Your role would be to support the Team Manager to deliver the day to day practice of the team and improve outcomes for Adults in Walsall whilst ensuring that all staff operate in a manner consistent with legislation, the Councils policies, Service specific standards and the Social Work England Code of Practice and facilitate practice improvement and development within the team with professional mentoring to drive up quality standards through high quality consistent reflective supervision and appraisal for a small group of staff; including professional mentoring to drive up quality standards.

    We have a great opportunity for an Advanced Practitioner to complement our existing Walsall Council's Adult Mental Health Team.

    Our dynamic and welcoming team, work with adults with a range of mental health diagnoses, autism and learning difficulties, their carers and families. We support people from age 18 years onwards and work closely with our health colleagues to make a difference.

    The team is made up of a Team Manager, Advanced Practitioners, Social Workers, Social Care Facilitators, Mental Health Support Workers with a wealth of experience as qualified AMHPs, Practice Educators and BIAs.

    We undertake assessments, support planning and reviews under the Care Act 2014 and s117 aftercare arrangements working closely with Health partners, Commissioners, and other external agencies to provide an integrated approach to supporting individuals.

    We work to a strengths-based and risk enabling model to achieve great outcomes and independence for the people we support.

    About you

    We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed professional, to help shape and deliver our service ideally qualified as an AMHP, BIA or Practice Educator with previous experience in a similar role.

    The successful applicant will be ready to support the Team Manager to deliver the day to day oversight and support of the team, and to improve outcomes for the adults of Walsall referred to our service. You will be responsible for supporting staff to deliver the best outcomes, while ensuring they operate in a manner consistent with legislation, the Councils policies, Service specific standards and the Social Work England Code of Practice.

    You will contribute and facilitate practice improvement and development within the team who;
    • deliver strengths-based assessments,
    • support planning and reviews under the Care Act 2014,
    • S117 aftercare arrangements,
    • Risk Assessments
    • Mental Capacity Assessments; and
    • Adult Safeguarding Enquiries.
      You will be confident in setting the standards for Social Work practice and approaches to assessment, be able to demonstrate dynamic problem solving, by leading and developing the behaviours of team members. The right person will possess a 'can do' approach that is focussed on continuous professional improvement and is measured by improved outcomes for the people of Walsall.

      Previous experience of working in a mental health setting would be advantageous but If you are looking for a new challenge in the mental health field or just want to build on your experience in this rewarding area of adult social care, then this role is for you.
