    Description
    Part time 0.6 wte working within the Community Intensive Home Treatment Team.

    Are you passionate about working with Older People? Are you able to work flexibly and holistically in a caring and patient-centred environment? We have an exciting opportunity for a physiotherapist within the Mental Health Services for Older People Directorate who has these values.


    This payment is only eligible to new starters who do not already hold a contract of employment with the Trust.

    This post also includes paid enhancements for unsocial hours working during night, weekends and bank holidays.

    The IHTT provide community-based multi-disciplinary assessments and treatments for people of any age suffering from dementia and those people over the age of 65 years who are experiencing mental health problems, as well as supporting their carers.

    Having a positive attitude towards working with people with mental health problems is essential.

    It is not essential to have worked in this environment previously - there will be opportunity to grow and expand your mental health skills being supported by dedicated senior staff including a Physiotherapy Clinical Specialist.

    Role of Physiotherapy in the community

    Falls risk assessment and implementing plans to decrease risk of falling.
    Assessment and treatment of specific musculoskeletal complaints.
    To encourage and facilitate regular physical activity to benefit physical and mental health and well-being.

    Specialist assessments including musculoskeletal, neuro, respiratory, pain

    receive regular support and clinical supervision, provided by a designated Physiotherapy Clinical Specialist

    There will also be opportunity to join the Trust bank team.


    A full UK driving license and vehicle for business use is required for this post however reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010.

    Qualifications - Academic / Professional memberships
    BSc / Diploma Physiotherapy
    Relevant CPD in relation to mental health, dementia and older people
    Ability to travel between locations

    A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use is required for this post however reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010.


    Proven post qualification experience with some at a more senior level
    Recent experience in working with older people with mental health conditions and dementia or demonstrates a positive attitude to working with this patient group
    Community experience

    Knowledge of local & National priorities
    Pathology of the older person
    Awareness of diversity
    Knowledge of Risk Assessment
    Flexible and positive approach
