    Role purpose

  • Deliver all specific objectives as assigned.
  • Ensure all direct reports deliver upon their agreed objectives.
  • Lead, coach, motivate and support the team in order to ensure qualitative and
  • quantitative outputs are achieved on a consistent basis against agreed KPIs, SLAs, targets and plans.

  • Create a positive environment that empowers team members to deliver service excellence and drive a high-performance culture.
  • Deliver regular constructive performance feedback to team members and
  • identify development needs.

  • Review and monitor work performance continually against agreed KPIs and SLAs.
  • Set individual objectives, undertake regular 121s and performance management reviews to ensure team members are delivering.
  • Ensure team members are praised and rewarded for outstanding achievements and or performance.
  • Supports the implementation of the claim's strategy for Arch UKR and assists in the overall underwriting strategy where required.
  • Deliver a customer centric claims proposition that will enhance company reputation / brand.
  • Monitor the teams reserving accuracy in accordance with the Company reserving philosophy.
  • Act as a referral point for the team.
  • Ensure that training and development of all claims staff is of the highest standards and that all staff have Performance Development Plans in place and are regularly reviewed.
  • Ensure all business and HR related processes are followed.
  • Responsible for all weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reporting to senior management.
  • Key Responsibilities

    1.

    Technical leadership

  • Implementing a reserving philosophy that meets the needs of the organisation and ensures procedures are in place to ensure claims are reserved in a consistent and accurate manner.
  • Handling large complex losses where required.
  • Assist in the selection and management of technical experts to assist in the handling of claims.
  • 2.

    Management of external service providers

  • Assist in the selection and management of external service providers.
  • Assist in the Audit program for external service providers.
  • Management Information

  • Weekly/Monthly reports to senior management within the Arch organisation.
  • Quarterly reports.
  • Continuous team performance assessment.
  • Claims Strategy

  • Responsible for the delivery of the team's business goals and objectives.
  • Leading a strong, cohesive and high performing claims team.
  • Responsible for team's financial claims performance targets, inventory control and reserve accuracy.

    Skills / Competencies

  • An ability to communicate at the highest levels across all areas of an organisation
  • Effective collaboration with underwriting business units.
  • An ability to think and act strategically.
  • Operational management experience.
  • High level of people management, including leading, influencing and motivating large teams.
  • A good understanding of Company financials and key drivers.
  • Ability to communicate and implement change.
  • Must be results and service focussed.
  • Strong influencing and decision making.
  • Ability to multi-task, to be highly organised and to empower others is desired.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of the FSA and FOS regulations in respect of claims handling.
  • High level of technical expertise in claims handling.
  • University / relevant professional qualifications desired
  • Considerable industry experience
  • 5 to 10 years' experience in both technical and operational management within Commercial Property Claims. This should include:
  • Operational/change management experience.
  • Project based team management experience
  • Experience in providing meaningful management analysis of claims activity with associated action planning and delivery is essential
